I'd angle the filter so the outflow pasts right over the heater element. That way the heat will be spread fast into the rest of the tank and prevent a hot spot above the heater

Next time give them a bucket of gravel and tell to keep raising it until it's absolutely crystal clear. That should keep them out of your hair for awhile.

Yes you can, but it would need a very very good clean. Especially if your gonna put it in a freshwater set-up. Cheap play sand does seem like the better option. Still needs cleaning but at least you'll know there's no funny bugs and/or pollution in there.

I've always liked RTBS's but in the end I decided it was much better to get a Rainbow shark. Looks just as good and he and his tank mates are much better off together.

Shouldn't be bad if the water in both are the same. Just try to keep the stress levels down. So just like when you first bought them don't feed them for 1st day and leave the light off and don't bother them for awhile after your have transferred them.

Looks like we need a new option of 1 a day. I feed mine twice, one before and after work. A shop told me to feed Puffers 4-6 times a day. Is that right??? I did try to keep some but they didn't last long. Never went near puffers since because of that.

I use the frozen ones. I de-frost them on a Friday night and feed them to the fish all weekend. The fish seem to love them as much as the live stuff. :rolleyes:

Basically the bigger the better. It'll both make it easier to maintain and it'll make the fish happier. :good:
