Been thinking about this recently and found a few decent places with a cheap lease for ther first 12 months. My question is, do you need any sort of qualification regarding aquatic science or fish behaviour? currently i just have the normal GCSE's and some A-Levels, none of which have anything to do with fish. Im assuming i need some sort of live stock license?

anyone here own a fish store that could help me out?

I don't think you need any qualifications, but you will need a livestock license. Best contact your local council and they will tell you what you need to get licensed.

Good luck on the shop!

On ebay their has been a fully fitted shop lease for sale for about 2 years.

it's in cardiff too

As far as i know the law doesnt state that you need any qualifications, obviously if your an experienced fish keeper it will help alot!

What are the going rates for leasing a fish store? Do they come with equipment or just empty shops ready for filling wth tanks?

looked at the shop on ebay, its way to big for what i was planning as an opening shop

looked at a couple of shops for rent near me, a couple stupid cheap at 7k a year (for the first year) its just the equipment/upkeep/stock that is stopping me i think :(

Yeah, that is why I said that. Think of how much it is to set up one tank, multiply that by like 20.

not quite, considering the filtration is nothing like what you have at home and that you can buy a bulk of tanks cheaper than what you would pay for a single tankx20!!

its the dry stock that has me a bit stuck though, still researching local areas

Didn't think of that, you are right on that fact.

Did you ever go through with this?
