Sand

I was just wonderin if you could get sand from a beach , wash it and use it in tank?
Any thoughts?

Not sure on beach sand but Argos do play sand for £2.89 for 15KG.... I got mine today and it looks good... (just make sure you wash it properly first)

£2.89! it would probably cost me more in petrol to get to the beach and back! lol

Yep... thats the decision I came to as argos is only 0.3 miles from me and the beach is about 30....
I got 2 bags to be on the safe side for my 3ft tank but they ALWAYS have it in stock so you can top it up any time....

Yes you can, but it would need a very very good clean. Especially if your gonna put it in a freshwater set-up.

Cheap play sand does seem like the better option. Still needs cleaning but at least you'll know there's no funny bugs and/or pollution in there.

I used the argos paysand in two of my tanks and also in a couple of my reptile tanks, and Ive nothin bad to say bout it.
will a good wash its idea for fish tanks
