Thanks for the link jasmine So, overstimulated or understimulated? Or it could be the poor water stats at the mo. I'm doing what I can to keep them under control-they're stressing me right out, so could well be him too!

That may have been me you're remembering. I posted (twice - 2 different incidents!) about my betta's (mostly) dorsal fin getting shredded. (Here's the link to the more recent.) It's likely that he was getting it caught in the filter intake as well as getting torn on the stupid SILK plants (why on earth silk plants have hard, sharp PLASTIC bits almost hidden on them - pretend "shoots" and "roots" and "buds" - is beyond me). I covered the intake and put only live plants in and he's healing quickly and nicely.I seem to remember someone recently had a similar looking tail problem, so I'm off to try and find that post
