i would really doubt it. They will be saturated with salt and I think they would upset the chemical balance in your tank. I would say no even if soaked for a year tbh! :D greg

You not got string? fishing line? put the elastic band on for a month maybe. just test it...release the pressure of the elstic band on the plant and see if it's going to come off. If it won't then it's attached. :D greg

argos playsand is a really white colour. Not sure about tescos, but B&Q, homebase and focus are all slightly darker. just in case colour mattered!

the only thing about amazon swords is you need a nutrient-rich substrate. I found that amazon swords grew like weeds until they hit the surface where they calmed down. So that makes me not sure on the slow growing point?! greg

Moody, do they use just normal working bulbs in them though? if I used aquarium bulbs for them would they work ok? (they'd be a hell of a lot cheaper than an arcadia luminaire that's for sure!) I could always buy one and do a little diy with mirrors/reflectors to try and help. cheers guys
