I think tigers can lose their colour when stressed. I've notice this with mine on the odd occasion but it doesn't last long and have had no diseases or anything. Is yours like this constantly then?

Tank is kept at 25 degrees - there are amano shrimp in this tank (it's the one in my profile pic). I've tried peacock and java moss but both died off. My peacock moss is doing fine in my other tank though (rcs shrimp only tank and 24 degrees). I'll split the Pellia between the 2 tanks!

I've previously had a juwel tank and now have the fluval Venezia 190. I found the juwel build quality far superior, so personally I would go for the juwel trigon but upgrade the filter to an external one. You could always do that at a later date to help spread the cost. Definitely worth...

You will definitely need more to do it this way. I used a bucket for bogwood/filter media, one for plants, 2 for adding the water back in and then one of those large plastic boxes you can get from B&Q, Asda etc. for the fish. You could probably get all these for around a tenner or so.

I'm looking at one right now... Sitting on top of some bogwood. It's about 5-6 mm long, most of that is the translucent tail. Once you've seen what one baby shrimplet looks like it's definately easier to spot others! I hate to thing how many I've gravel vac'ed up though :sad:

Just an update in case anyone else in same situation. I ordered a fluval 405 in the end as it was only £8 more than the 305. The Aquastop from the 205 fitted straight on it, so no need to mess about with changing hoses etc. :good:

Mine are only a couple of inches apart. The tank comes with pre-drilled holes in the base. As it was designed that way, the manufacturer obviously didn't think it mattered. Seems to do the job ok!

Bought some redwood (nice branches) recently from LFS. All their pieces were pre-soaked so only needed a rinse under the shower. Took about a week to become waterlogged. Also have bogwood which has caves & holes for fish to hide in/swim through. I love planted tanks with lots of wood!

Hi, you're not alone! My platy also attacks my apple snail (snail is huge). None of the other fish bother it, just the platy. But it's not continuous so I just leave them be. The snail retreats into his shell and the platy soon gets bored :lol:
