I think Chromis could be my favourite fish! I would love to have a tank with a mini school of chromis, about 30 of em would be great with a few other bits and bobs in there. In fact I might just have to look into that :D

Hi there The only thing I can think of is that it isnt necessary to add live sand if you are going to use Live rock straight away. If you need to cut costs then maybe have a look at the other post thats just popped up in this forum about substrates. Also you will need to get the water cycling...

Be careful with tap water as there are many things in there which can upset a tank. You know that fluoride is added to water to make our teeth stronger right? I have no idea how this can affect a tank but I am assuming it cant be good. Also I did a nitrate test on my tap water and it went off...

Try a Scarlet hawkfish. I found found these ones to be very good to keep. Never tried any of the other kinds of hawk tho ;)

I have a lobster in my tank which is about 2-3 inches in length, is mauvey purple in colour with many yellow spots over him. He looks lovely but is very shy and I dont see him often. Does anyone know what its called? I see them quite regularly in fish shops but never a sign to say what it is...

Well the LFS in question is about 5 mins down the road however the other shop is about 30 mins away. I usually travel to the further one for livestock and travel to the more local one for water, as I thought water "should" be more reliable. Also the better shop 30 mins away doesn't sell salt...

I am not sure what type of coral it is that my clowns like to hang out in but I suspect it is also a hammer one. I had to put the coral just above the nem so that both clowns had the best of both coral + nem. So this isn't uncommon. the little critters just get confused sometimes :D example

Because I have already asked my LFS if they could look out for a yellow one for me :( Although they know what size tank I have as they sold it to me so they shouldnt sell it to me if they think its unsuitable! I can use that line I hope :D

I think it probably is a sea hare. I have one also and if they get unwell or injure themselves they sometimes produce little wisps/strands of mucus(?). as far as im aware its nothing to worry about.

I would like to add that when we were not so wise when it came to what we could stick in the tank we bought 2 of these shrimp. They werent called camel shrimp by the LFS but something like peppermint or candycane shrimp. We didnt have the problem of them taking out corals but then I wouldnt...

This part makes me think maybe its not such a good idea to keep a goatfish :no: I was hoping that the tank size might keep him to a smaller size but the feeding requirements also make me think maybe not as we feed 1-2 times daily rather than 6 times per day. And finally... internal...

cool thanks Lynden. I spoke with my LFS peep today and he recommended the goatfish. So now I have one on and maybe an extra bag of sand for him to sift through as our sand layer can get a bit sparse sometimes. I love the fact that it has barbels- totally cool. oh btw, any ideas on some names...
