I'm trying really hard to act normal
Ok, I have a little confession....
I didn't want to say anything earlier, until some time had passed with the coral in my 29 gallon. I have two camel shrimp in with my xenia, star polyps, sun coral, and leather coral. I had no idea camels were a potential risk to the polyps, until a few days after I added the corals. The shrimp have been in my tank since the beginnine (well, pretty close, anyway). I knew there was a big risk keeping them in the tank. After about a month, I have yet to see any polyp loss. I have not seen either camel anywhere on the corals (during the day or night). Now, I'm not suggesting that any and all camels should be in with every reef tank. I just wanted to share that I have two verified camel shrimp in with some softies and have yet to notice and problems.
Now do I just have unusual individuals? Maybe. Are there certain species that are polyp eaters, and other that are not? Maybe. Who knows...maybe my two are just waiting for the right time to consume ever coral in the tank. If I do notice some polyps eaten/damaged, these two will be my first suspects, and I'll relocate them accordingly.
Just wanted to share....
And a pic of my sea hare, just because I love him.
