I have a bit of algea in the sand, but I don't have anything to move it. I do have a scooter blennie, but he doesn't do much to the sand.

Any ideas are welcome :)

Novaculichthys, Cirrhilabrus, Pseudocheilinus, Coris, Halichoeres, Phostus, Balistes, Rhinecanthus, Valenciennea, Balistapus, Balistoides, Archaster, Holothuria, Amblygobius, Pholidichthys, et cetera will all stir the sand bed to some degree; some to a small degree, others to a huge one (such as Razor fish).

Whoever can give the common names for each genus wins.

You could get a load of Nassarius snails to move the sand bed and possibly eat the algae on it too. A better choice than a sand sifting starfish IMO as they are less likely to starve and won't eat all your pods etc.

Agreed, Nassarius snails and wrasses are the way to go here. My Leopard Wrasse was born to sift sand

Common name for all those is google.com

As far as the Nassarius snails. I do have abunch of them and all they seem to do is stick eggs on my glass. IMO they are a pain in the lower back. I'm gonna look into a wrasse. Which on do you guys recommend and why?

I've got 3 wrasses, a Para, cirhillabrus, and a macropharyngodon (8-line, solorensis, and black leopard respectively). Out of the three, the leopard wrasse stirs up the sand the most. Sometimes she drives me nuts cause I wanna take a pic of the tank but she's gotta go kickin up sand :p

...are examples of the above genera. Would it kill people to learn the latin names? They are much more accurate and eliminate confusion. :look:

i dont have enough brain space to fit all the latin names in my head, i mean its diffficult enough im having to revise for SATs atm and knowing me id probably start writing down the latin names of fish in an english papaer if i learnt them.

I just ordered a diamond back goby and they gave me a free Engineer Goby......Free is good :)

i have a question with the blue cheek gobys are they okay with mandarin fish at all please . I think sand shifting wrasse would have to be a radiant wrasse mine looks beutiful when he does it lol.

I didn't know SAT's were takin in England too. I hate stupid SAT's, I felt like a dumbtard when I got the results last month. I'm taking it again in June though. Anyways,

We shouldn't learn latin names because we don't speak latin?

and a good sand sifter is a rare species called a wooden stick it comes in plastic also!

Heres a photo of this marvoleous creature...
