If your gravel is very fine, then it's entirely possible for your loaches to burrow into it. However, my gravel is fine and so far, I have never had one of my loaches burrow completely into it, though they sure do make holes in it and move the gravel around quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure that Duckweed as with most other aquatic plants will compete with the bacteria in your filter, but by how much I don't know. I have just found this interesting article HERE.

I agree with Bignose, Duckweed is a brilliant plant for sucking up nitrates/nitrites and ammonia as well as other toxins. It is also a very good oxygenator. Taken from HERE.

It wasn't a case of me not believing you fishfreak24, it's just that as I said, I have never heard of a Banded Gourami being called a Giant Gourami. If you do a Google search for Giant Gourami, I suspect you won't find many Banded Gouramis under that name.

I don't think you have any need to worry. 2 1/2 hours isn't too long and everything should be fine.

A couple of pics would help us to identify the fish.

Equalising the temperature helps to prevent shock. It's a bit like if you were to get out of a hot bath and jump straight into a swimming pool. The temperature difference would cause you to feel shocked.

When you say you have removed the carbon, have you only just removed it?. If that's the case, then that would explain why the treatment hasn't worked, as carbon absorbs chemicals, including medications.

What is the size of your aquarium in litres? What are your water stats? Temperature. Ph. Ammonia. Nitrite. Nitrate. What other fish do you have in the tank?

Please post a picture and don't forget to answer the questions as to how big is your aquarium? I wouldn't rely too much on what the pet shop person has told you as a lot of pet shops will tell you anything in order to sell you something.

Giant Gouramis can and will eat small fish at times. How large is your Giant Gourami and what is the size of your aquarium? These fish can grow upto around 30 inches.

I think that is one that tends to be active at night. I used to have a common Pleco that hardly ever moved during the day, but at night it was very active. Does your Pleco look ok? Have you tried observing him at night to see whether he is more active and feeding ok?

A lot of Plecos are only really active at night once the lights have gone out. What type of Pleco have you got?

Without a pic it's hard to tell what they might be, but my guess would be Planaria which are not harmful to either your fish or you. Take a look at this thread HERE and see if it helps you to ID the worms.

The volume quoted of 260 litres is without gravel, decorations etc. Also, one would never fill a tank right to the very top. So, if it's useful volume is 220 litres, then I suspect the Roma 240 would be somewhat less. I have the Roma 240 and love it, but I doubt very much if I actually have 240...

Unless you give us the make and model of your filter, it's hard for us to know what to advise. Alternatively, you could do a Google search for your filter instructions. ;)

I think this is something that is very much down to personal preference. I like the rock background I have on my tank in my sig. Many will no doubt say a plain black background is best or no background at all, but as I said, it really is down to personal preference.
