Hi
I have taken over a tropical aquarium with 4 fish. I've worked out that one is a male mollie but not sure about the other 3. They're around 4cm long and are a raspberry red and black colour. Their body shape is not unlike a clown fish - kind of triangular! Any ideas?

Hi there welcome to the forum, I think the fish you are describing is a clown loach quite a common aquarium fish. Though due to its large size will eventually need a large tank of 5-6 foot. What size tank do you have? Is this your first tank or is this an other tank to your collection :) hope we can help you and feel free to ask lots of questions :)

Red and black isn't a clown loach....

Could be a red tailed black shark, rainbow shark, some type of cichlid, bleeding heart tetra...

Serpae tetra, red phantom tetra and then I'm out of ideas.

hmm i was going on the triangle shape. But re thinking it rasberry red and black sounds like a black ruby barb?

Thanks guys, will put a pic on later....

Just had a quick look and they DO look like black ruby barbs. They have quite a dense colour and their tales are red. But it's certainly the nearest to what they look like! Cheers again
