Hi there guys and girls....basically im currently doing my Alevels and I was hoping you could help me out on a question ive been set.

The question is: ''Explain why it is essential to match the temperature of the water before placing a fish in the new tank.''

If any of you know any anwers to this, do you think you could help me out?

Thanks a lot.

Chris Brooks.

Equalising the temperature helps to prevent shock.

It's a bit like if you were to get out of a hot bath and jump straight into a swimming pool. The temperature difference would cause you to feel shocked.

Yep agree with howard - add to that that stress lowers the fish's immune system
