The 260 litre Vicenza only has a useful 220 litres. Is that because of the lighting/hood/other factors intruding on the space?
I don't really see any point in buying a 260 litre tank if it's capacity is less that that the Roma 240 which is cheaper except i do like the look of the bow front.

Also, anyone have any thoughts on how watertight the Vicenza filter connections are through the base?

Cheers

That just dosen't make sense. The filtration system is below the tank, so what is displacing that volume of water? Are they trying to factor in average substrate and ornament displacement? Really odd that a 260 litre tank only holds 220 litres.

Yeah, they must be trying to factor in the substrate and what not like drobbyd said...

The filter part, where it goes through the bottom of the tank, should be just fine. It is just like any other seal on the tank.

The volume quoted of 260 litres is without gravel, decorations etc. Also, one would never fill a tank right to the very top. So, if it's useful volume is 220 litres, then I suspect the Roma 240 would be somewhat less.

I have the Roma 240 and love it, but I doubt very much if I actually have 240 litres of water in it.

Whilst all the replies make sense it's odd that they only quote the "useful " figure for one style of tank. All the tanks will have substrate , ornaments or whatevever detracting from the total volume . None of them would be filled to the brim either .

Just seems odd that they singled out the Vicenza.

ND Aquatics state two measurements for their tanks - the tank dimensions and the useful volume of water held in litres. If you take the dimensions and calculate the water held it's higher. That's not the norm as you correctly point out.
