    Blue Planet Aquarium

Don't know if anyone has been to it, but paid my first visit to the Blue Planet Aquarium near Elsmere Port yesterday. The place is top notch. Brilliant if you have kids (although the prices could be considered a bit steep). They have loads of different tank set up's inc Pacu and Red Tail...

    Making My 800 Gal.... Bigger

Jon, This is looking REALLY good mate! Can't wait to see it with water. Your gonna have to keep on a diet if you want to cary on getting through your access hatch though :hyper: So the glass is just straight silconed on to the inside of the tank? And how big is your python to be able to...

One-way View Film For Tanks With Easily Spooked Fish?...help!

You could always enrol in your local ninja school. My bala's started out a bit skittish. Not too sure why they settled down, possibly just got used to be near the tank. They won't eat from my hand or anthing but they are a lot more relaxed.

How Do You Pronounce Eheim, Anyway?

It's pronounced E-hyme (well, that's how they say it on promotional video I watched the other day). Your LFS won't laugh if you say it wrong, they prob hear it about 10 times a week.

Old Juwel Rio 180 Replecemnt Hood Needed

Do a quick search on ebay for "rio 180 flap set" and you get a couple of results for about £23-£24 inc delivery. These won't include the lights. Apparently you can use the Arcadia light bar (I've not seen these to see if the flap set does actually fit right in) which is meant to be better than...

Help Required - Electricity Being Cut

It will help. over 6 hours, the temp drop shouldn't really come into play. If in doubt put you central heating onto the max so the house temp is really high as well, that way less heat dissaptes from the tank. Plus as it is a gradual drop, most fish can survive for that length of time (a...

    External Filter

Would love the fx5 or 2080 but they simply don't fit in. Been checking up on the web and the 2078 seems to have a bigger flow rate than the 2080 (just due to it being newer I think) and looks like it may fit. Gonna measure the height tonight as it will def fit in width wise, but looks like it...

    External Filter

I've always been of the opinion that it is impossible to over filter and even though the manufacturer says about the flow rate, that is mainly when brand new and with no media in and in reality can be a little as half what they say. I am seriously thinking about running a 700 & 1200 together...

    External Filter

Hi there, I've been looking at upgrading my filters (I am currently running with the stuck on Juwel internal and a Tetratec EX700) on my 300L tank. I want to remove the juwel's internal filter to get the full space out of the tank and am looking at getting a new external to do the job. I'd...

    External Filter

Thought about it, but think that it would require me to keep the 700 running at the same time as well. Would prefer to goto a single filter if pos due to space more than anything. The 1200 is top of my back up plan though as I haven't had any problems at all with the 700.

    Airpump Too Powerful?

I hope the pin holes are between the air pump and the check valve. Try something like this Gang Valve. I have a t bar which splits my line straight from the pump, then one of these on each line which power my two airstones.

    Python No-spill (backflow Prevention?)

For yor water to flow into your drinkiing water (ie back up the tap) it would basically have to flow against nature (fluid dynamics & gravity) and would be being sucked into the tap (ie through a vacuum etc..). If this were happening in your house I'd be more worried about the internal plumbing...

    Tank Choices - Advice Please

Someone just had this exact problem http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=270787 I've had several Juwel tanks (not had the 260 though) and have never had a problem with them. Saying that, I've never had one of the fluval's. Think it comes down to which one fits in with your home decor...

Need Some Help With My New Tank..to Be

Personally I have just two clown loaches and they get along fine and seem happy. They are better in larger groups, but I got mine as a rescue from a friend. I only have a solitary angel as I didn't want to breed, but I have been told that the "more the merrier" works (normally aim around the 6...

    Fish Tank Stand

Depends on what you require. Is it a custom stand, or one for a tank that normally comes with a stand (eg Juwel)? If it is for one of those kinds, then most LFS or websites that sell aquariums will do the cabinet seperate.

    Hello..

Not really recommended, but it can work out depending on what you get. You need to try to be a bit more specific on what you want. EG lots of people like clown loaches, but don't realise that these can get VERY big! Granted, they are pretty slow growers. Or you may like Oscars. in which...

Where To Get A Good Shipwreck

    There's one at 49° 56' 49" W, 41° 43' 32" N. Granted it's about 12600ft down and may be a bit big for your tank as it's the Titanic.

Oscar, getting pretty big now, close to the 5" mark, not bad considering I only got him in...

    Want A Moonlight, Help!

I have had a couple of sets from the same place as JustKia. Can't knock them at all. Look great. However the stips that I have may be a bit too powerful for a 50cm wide tank. My original one was the single stip with 15 LED's and now I have a double version of this. I'd look at getting...

    My Science Fair Rules

You could get a battery powered airpump HERE which I suppose you could rig upto an under gravel filter, which gets your filtration problem sorted but these will prob eat through batteries. Do the batteries themselves have to come out of the $25? However, no idea about heating / lighting. What...

Help And Advice Please Needed By Beginner

30g is too small for even one oscar, you'd need a min of 55g although most people who keep them start at a min of 75g. Never kept Silver Dollars so can't really give advise on them, but a quick search through the net looks like you may just be able to get away with 2 fish, however they are a...

    Middle Feeders...freshwater

Not too sure on stocking levels or the African Butterfly fish but Buenos Airies Tetra's are pretty nice as pure middle feeder. If you put in freeze dried bloodworm etc... they dart to the top to feed, but that's about it. School well and are pretty damn quick so tend not to get eaten (a...

I`m A Newbie, Here`s My Tank. What Do You Think?

It will become a problem, but I honestly don't know how quickly they grow. Mine are in with my oscars and seem pretty static at 6", whereas if they were oscars at that size, then you'd already have to be cycling the big tank to put them as they grow really rapidly. There are two LFS I goto. I...

I`m A Newbie, Here`s My Tank. What Do You Think?

Nice looking tank Dave, I'd watch out for the clown loaches though as the Rekord will be way to small for them (it's only 21 gallons when you should be looking at 75gallons for these) Not too sure about the red tailed sharks and what size they should have.

    What Every Newbie Should Know

All i do is to put some frozen peas in a mug with room temp water over them before I go to work, then they are nice and soft by the time I get home. Why the hurry to nuke them?
