You could always enrol in your local ninja school. My bala's started out a bit skittish. Not too sure why they settled down, possibly just got used to be near the tank. They won't eat from my hand or anthing but they are a lot more relaxed.

I've always been of the opinion that it is impossible to over filter and even though the manufacturer says about the flow rate, that is mainly when brand new and with no media in and in reality can be a little as half what they say. I am seriously thinking about running a 700 & 1200 together...

Thought about it, but think that it would require me to keep the 700 running at the same time as well. Would prefer to goto a single filter if pos due to space more than anything. The 1200 is top of my back up plan though as I haven't had any problems at all with the 700.

I hope the pin holes are between the air pump and the check valve. Try something like this Gang Valve. I have a t bar which splits my line straight from the pump, then one of these on each line which power my two airstones.

For yor water to flow into your drinkiing water (ie back up the tap) it would basically have to flow against nature (fluid dynamics & gravity) and would be being sucked into the tap (ie through a vacuum etc..). If this were happening in your house I'd be more worried about the internal plumbing...

Depends on what you require. Is it a custom stand, or one for a tank that normally comes with a stand (eg Juwel)? If it is for one of those kinds, then most LFS or websites that sell aquariums will do the cabinet seperate.
