Hi,

I have been given an oldish tank for nothing, and after much hunting, I have worked out we have been given what looks like a Juwel Rio 180 complete with stand.

Sadly, there is no hood with it. It has the frame that sits round the top of the tank, with a cross brace which runs front to back in the middle of the tank. I *think* I need the flaps? Can anyone help with this? I also need a replacement light fitting, having been given a couple of lighting tubes.

Can anyone help with locating a replacement part for this? I am hoping it won't cost £50 or £60 as I fear.

Do a quick search on ebay for "rio 180 flap set" and you get a couple of results for about £23-£24 inc delivery.

These won't include the lights. Apparently you can use the Arcadia light bar (I've not seen these to see if the flap set does actually fit right in) which is meant to be better than the normal Juwel one.

It's the lights that will push up the cost though.

measure the tank up as theres a bit of difference between the 125 and 180 iirc the 180 bottom frame measures 101cm (1010mm)

A juwel light bar (t8) will be around £20-30 s/h A T5 bar will set you back 40-50 S/H (if you can find one)

T5 light bar for the 180 2 tubes and 2 reflectors cost me around £115 5 months ago (new) but due to the poor euro juwel's prices have gone up 6-15% in the last 2 months. Flap sets will be around £20-25

Thank you both so much. After hunting and hunting for a replacement hood, I did finally realise in the early hours that it is a flap set.

I will carefully remeasure, but I am positive this will be the right make.

Can I ask, I have been reading other members posts regarding cold cathode lighting... has anyone tried this is a Rio 180?
