Tina's Twin Bommies

*sighs* PC gear isn't easy to replace now either  Weren't you going to use them on your new tank Tina?

Yip, I will rescue the ballast and try and check everything just incase a wire has come loose somewhere. It is a bit difficult to get to though so have to get the ballast out of the back of the unit first.

If that does not work, will have to try to get hold of another twin 55w PC controller. The interpet ones are fine just need to get hold of some more bulb holders though. When you buy them 2nd hand, you don't seem to get the clips for the lamps.

Reet, first the computer, then the lights, then on Saturday night my my internet connection suddenly went.

3/4 hr on the phone with sky and as they could not get a line test to run, they said there was a fault on the line, luckily, this morning my internet came back.

Saturday night and last night was horrendous without the internet, especially as Andrew was in the Midlands.

May be off again for a few hrs later as the computer repair man is coming sometime today.

Can anything else go wrong, no don't answer that.

Hi Tina the probibilty with your internet connection was a stale connection then sky had to contact BT to resolve this happens quiet frequently.

We have had a few issues like that we went down the path of getting a USB dongle, which is pay as you go, Useful with a laptop if you are out and about as well.

Not when you are in the sticks they are not.

We are severely restricted with the internet we can get as we are on a long line and in an area where you cannot get a mobile phone signal.

3 companies only for internet, BT, AOL or SKY connect. Notice the sky connect, we are not on their normal internet, because we are on a long telephone line, we cannot have their normal broadband.

Long lines at an exchange that is classed as a village exchange, are not the most reliable. Usually it happens when the exchange have connected someone else to broadband in our area. They do a trial and error to get a line they can split.

Hehe not sure anyone is in the "Sky" area everyone i know who has tried to get there speacial prices end up on the same service as you have :)

No mobile signal sucks :( not many options excluding SAT broadband that I would nt touch with a barge pole latency is horrfic.

As sad as it sounds thats 2 things I check for in a new house good broadband and mobile signal.

Its not been that bad at all.

We have had the service now for 14-15 months and I have only had to ring sky twice. The first time I just had to press the reset button on the back.

This fault last occurred on AOL so it really does not matter who we go for, will still get the line problems.

AOL is extortionate, BT has download restrictions so SKY it is.

Well when Andrew got home tonight, the reason for my internet problem was apparent.

It is getting to be a habit, BT came this morning to fit a telephone line in a neighbouring property. This property is rented out, whenever they get a line fitted, my broadband service is interupted because they mess with our line to get theirs going.

Wow, been quite a stressful couple of days for you then Tina.
But surely, it can only get better?
Fingers crossed for you.

You all may have realised that I have been a little quiet in my journal this week. There is very good reason for that, all will be revealed today though.

Firstly if you read Seffies Journal, you will know I got a couple of frags this week, so without further ado, I think I should show you them.

I got a Pavona frag and a zoa frag from JBS Marines who have an ebay shop, I got an offer of another forum though.

Pavona

Reet, onto my new purchase, I spent a fair amount of time umming and ahhing over this. You will remember that last week I went to see a stunning tank where I picked up my SPS frags. The tank was a 6x2'2x2 and contained a stunning collection of Tangs. I spoke to Nev quite a bit about the tangs that night and subsequently.

I asked about adding a Tang to my system and was told by NWMC (North West Marine Club) members to go for it as I was contemplating a juvenile yellow tang. However, I did not get a yellow tang.

You may remember me saying this in one of Bae's threads last week.

I was looking at Tangs this weekend.

There were 3 or 4 Yellow Tangs I saw but not really one I would have purchased.

They ranged from too large for me (prefer juveniles) to very insipid in colouring.

Saw much nicer Sailfins though and some very nice orange shoulder and mimic Tangs. Saw a very very nice juvenile Caribbean Blue Tang too.

Yep, you guessed it, the Caribbean / Atlantic Blue juvenile tang came home with me last weekend. I was warned by the shop that I may have problems with feeding, I asked to see it feed in the shop and it took Brine / mysis like a pig. So I made the decision that it was mine.

Now you may think I am stupid for not quarantining the fish, I had my UV switched on, but after speaking to Nev, he did not QT either. So I introduced the fish. The LFS said a few of my fish may be a problem, the only one it turned out that was, was the Royal Gramma. The little 1" Tang has taken over the tank. A few days ago I noticed white spots, back to Nev as I knew he had whitespot when he introduced the purple tang, he got slated on a certain forum for the way he treated the whitespot. Isolating the fish canr stress the fish further so he advised me to step up feeding to 10 times a day and make food always available for the tang. Use garlic and other additives (I used New Era Liposome spray). He also said it may not be whitespot but could be stress spots. Today the tang is clear and the only fish with a couple of spots is the Royal Gramma. Now this makes sense as the RG and Tang are still having the odd tiff. I was also told to keep my hands out of the tank as much as possible, which I have done.

I think if I had panicked and pulled the fish to treat them, I may well have lost some by now.

At the moment (fingers still crossed and UV still on) I firmly believe it is stress spots and am keeping a close eye on the situation.

I suppose now that I ought to show some piccies.

Oh OK then......

Do you think I was good keeping a secret for so long??.......

Oh alright piccies here

I have not named the Tang yet. I am unsure as to sex but it needs to match his character as well as fitting in with my theme. He is very funny to watch and zooms round the right hand bommie screeching on his side as he does so.

He goes up to the Royal Grammas cave and purposefully winds him up, establishing the pecking order, however the RG will always defend his cave.

It should settle down soon as there is less and less confrontation each day, moving either would cause more stress so I am happy for them to work it out themselves, if there was any damage, it may be different, but it never goes that far.

Hope you like my little cherub of joy.

Can you tell the 6ft is going to be a Tang tank  :D

You cheeky monkey, how did you keep that a secret
Looks lovely, hope you're right about the stress, I do wonder sometimes if people do react to things a bit to quickly, thus stressing fish more than necessary.

You are getting as good as my family are at keeping secrets Tina

Lovely fish and again gorgeous photos - can't wait to hear more about him/her
