The tank was a Rena. They don't do tanks any more. I inherited the tank off my dad, but it wasn't that old AFAIK.

I have just cleaned my Eheim pro 2073 and reading the instructions it says next time I should replace a lot of bits: the blue prefilter, the white fleece material, some of the substrat and biomech and mechpro. It also says to get Eheim care spray and to clean the pump with the Eheim cleaning set...

I was away on business for 10 days and one of my tanks sprung a huge leak overnight while I was away. All fish dead and flooded living room. My poor better half had to clean up and was quite traumatised. Is this common? Is there a possible cause? Everything was fine when I left, but the leak...

Yeast is usually in the baking aisle next to the flour. There is more than one kind. Fast acting (usually for bread machines in sachets) and standard which comes in a jar/tub. There is also yeast for wine and beer which is supposed to last longer. I have been finding (with the Hagen yeast kit)...

I have 6 (2 males and 4 females). the males do a lot of chasing so you need a big tank even though they are small fish. They are very entertaining to watch, but are also quite shy so you need a few plants etc for hiding places and for the females to escape to have a rest.

I'm not sure whether to go ahead with this now. As the McCulloch's are £7 each it would cost me £70 to get the 10 I was planning. If they are all probably going to die then rainbowfish don't seem like a good prospect for a beginner like myself. :( I think I should wait until I have more experience.

If the shop quarantines the fish for 2 weeks before putting them on sale would this stress disease have shown up by then? How long would it take before you know?

I might be interested in this. Does it take JBL CO2 cannisters or a regular FE (or both?) Thanks.

Yes. It's Sweet Knowle. I think there is a mistake on the price. It says 12.50 for the blue-eyes on the main page, but when you go to the details it says 2.50. Does this sound more like the correct price? Do you think McCulloch and Neons would handle my water? Cheers.

I was at an aquatic store yesterday which has a lot of rainbowfish. I am thinking of getting some of the smaller species for my new tank (200 litre). They had Neon Dwarfs, McCullochs and Threadfins (they also had some Spotted Blue-eyes at £12.50 each :crazy: ) Anyone have experience with any of...

How tall are they? I have 2 of these in my new tank. Small (bacopa compacta) and a bit bigger (bacopa monnieri). They look very similar to each other apart from size.

Can this JBL u402 be easily converted to a FE system? It is cheaper than the m602 I was looking into.

Also remember that the nitrate test you are not supposed to shake it to dissolve the mixture (I think the instructions say swirl). So I don't cap the test tube but just swirl the mixture around. Sometimes it's hard to dissolve.
