With fish being cold blooded does this not risk them going into shock? What fish do you have in your tank?

Hi All I was just wondering how closely people match the temperature of the new water during a water change? I do try to get mine within half a degree but I have been known to put a bucket of water in that's 2 degrees out. Is that bad?

Hi Just keep doing daily water changes and hope he'll get better. You do use de-chlorinator and match the temperatures, right? Don't bother cleaning the filter media unless the flow rate goes down because it's getting clogged. Probably once every few months. Good Luck!

I bought some Cories at my local Pets @ Home in Horwich. The guy dripped the bank in the coldwater of the plants section when tieing up the bag. The fish soon died. When I went to complain the guy said fish can survive in cold water... Never going to buy fish from there again.

How much salt did you use? I never liked the idea of using salt in a freshwater set-up because 1) table salt isn't ideal 2) I've no way to measure the salinity or SG levels and 3) some plants & fish can't tolerate it, especially scaleless fish like your Pleco.

I know I'm should do weekly water changes but now that I've install 2 filters with over twice the flow rates & filter media than before, why can't the water changes regularity be extended?

Yup, tried that. He does often manage to grab a pellet but the larger 1 finishes his first and then steals the 1 off the skinny one. I don't want to put too much food in as the larger one often looks like he's going to burst anyway because his belly is so full. Always seems hungry tho.

Is it the U3 internal? If so it has a blue cage in the middle of it for your ceramics, right? To switch over I'd recommend cutting up ya own filter Media and putting it in there. Fill any space left with the ceramic rings supplied. The bacteria should quickly spread to the standard sized media...
