So recently my favorite Red Wag Platy has not been acting right, sitting on the bottom, being lethargic, not eating, but this morning I noticed she was pretty fat and her scaled were starting to pop out. I immediately knew it was the dreaded dropsy . So about an hour later I went to p@h and got some aquarium salt and internal parasite meds, and I was about 2 hours, but when I got home, she was dead :-(.

RIP Ol' girl you will be greatly missed by myself and your tankmates :rip:  :-( :byebye:

Sorry to hear of your loss. I think even if you put the meds in this morning, it would've been too late anyway. Small consolation, I know.

my male moly passed away in 3 hours yesterday... from dropsy... another got pop-eye and she is still alive and being treated... the only reason i didn't ask for assistance is that i quarduple checked my water stats (before doing a 80 litre water change) and they were Perfect!!! the mystery disease in clean water.....

Thanks, and I thought that aswell. She only started getting fat this morning so I couldn't have known it was dropsy any earlier unfortunatley. :-(

I checked my water stats and they are all perfect, it is indeed a mystery disease   :S

So sorry for your loss. I had a platy very similar to yours. I rehomed her after we'd lost her tankmates due to ph crash.

Thanks for your kind messages everyone :good:
