Whilst working in another town I happened upon a P@H store so thought I would pop in to see what plants they had in stock.

When I got to the fish section there was a couple with their small daughter who where obviously new to the hobby & looking for advice. They young man who was working there was very clear & consise with his advice. He told them all about the nitrogen cycle, how to cycle the tank (admitedly fish-in cycling but very detailed), about stock levels & fish compatability, feeding etc. I was very impressed.

My local P@H is rubbish for this, just goes to show they are not all the same.

So very well done to Pets @ Home, Chelmer Village, Chelmsford, Essex. I would reccomend this shop without hesitation.

:good:

hopefully everyone who works there has the same knowledge and motivation as the young guy you saw.

i think alot of places have 1-2 maybe who actually know what they are talking about, but how often do they work, and how often does their advice even get heeded?

After rating a new pets at home near me i went in at the wkend to get some frozen mice. Most of the tanks had dead fish in and the tanks especially the marine section were filfy. I had to bite my tongue.

i love my LFS (angel aquatics) they always give out brilliant advice. to anyone who's new to the hobbie. its good to see other fish shops doing it =]

I bought some Cories at my local Pets @ Home in Horwich. The guy dripped the bank in the coldwater of the plants section when tieing up the bag. The fish soon died. When I went to complain the guy said fish can survive in cold water... Never going to buy fish from there again.

I'm sorry Tom, i know this is a positive thread, but i can see the way it's going. The thread will be locked.
