There's different quality from brand to brand, but as far as sinking versus floating there is really no difference. It just depends on what your fish prefer. My large cichlids will not look twice at sinking food, it literally drops right before their eyes and they keep staring up at the surface...

:shout: no kidding. mine will walk past a clean bowl of water to sneak a drink out of my daphnia cultures :sick: last year she got a case of hookworms. The vet said it was very uncommon and had no idea where she could have picked them up. But I suspected that I knew, so,yeah, discourage it...

I've imagined that many times over. But I don't think my imagination can even digest how absolutely horrible that would be. and it's likely that no one's going to buy that tank.

Actually, quite the opposite. It was extremely stressful. With that said, whatever needs to be done via admin controls can always wait for William. The mods have enough controls to tend to the immediate things while he's away. Nothing, as far as forum upgrading, is that pressing. :good:

The first pic was about a year and eight months ago, she was barely two or three inches then. Now she's closer to eight or nine inches. I kept her in a 20 for a couple of months, just until I could rearrange and move her to a 55. Now she's on her way to needing a hundred gallon. Soon, not yet...

Because I soak everything that I bleach in dechlorinated water :P I guess I'm just paranoid like that. I was kind of curious as to why you were putting dead coral into a fw tank. I'm only assuming it's fw though..

I would soak it in a bucket with heavily dechlorinated water first.

I agree with both ^ :) The canvas works really well, but it's sort of tricky getting it exactly right. I've destroyed quite a bit of craft canvas.

True, true. No halides for me. My tank consists of the heater, the pump, and a junky light. It's buying the saltwater that's a killer. It's something I really, really hate paying for, so I usually trade fish. Gah, I did a bad, bad thing today (not really), but I got another (final!) newb for...

trimming fins is no big deal, and it doesn't harm the fish. It can be stressful for both of you though so if you do it- do it accurately and quickly. Use a clean razor and a wet towel to lie him on. I personally think it would be best to put him in a jar with methylene blue for a couple of hours...

Mine are living in frozen buckets right now,so no they don't need a heater. I would be cautious about rinsing them...they don't do well at all without aged water. One time I did a large water change on a fry tank- then fed them daphnia and the daphnia instantly dropped dead from the new water...

They don't look like they're dying. Maybe a new little plant will perk them up. Or try moving them. My cousin has one of mine and she said he used to pout like that all day until she moved him to her kitchen table where he can see everything. Now he's happy as a clam.

Our electricity was outrageous this month. I don't think my husband realizes that my tanks add to the cost, and I've never taken the time to point it out, but I am going to take down a couple tanks that are nothing but extra cost. Not the big ones, mind you. Just a couple of 30's.

I do still have lots of bettas, mainly wilds. They keep breeding and I keep raising and trading them. :rolleyes: I set up my saltwater last year at this time (Feb'ish). Can't help ya regarding the angels, but I really do like the shape of that tank. (it would be an awesome nano =P)

right on, fish. We were thinking the same thing about him being okay with the goby, especially if he grows up around him and food is abundant. He has put a dent in my hermit population though. Dunno...this guy really, really likes to eat. As you well know. ba, you know I loves me some big puppy...
