Didn't know where to put this at, think I found the right spot, so here we go.

Whats better in a pellet? I had some leftover HBH African Cichlid Attack Pellets, and they sink, I'm feeding them to my convict grow out fry, the little fellows darted right at them.

So, I hear Hikari is the best I could get, and I buy a bag of Hikari Cichlid "Specialists' Cichlid Staple". I feed them to the O and JD, but they float. Was a little difference for the fish, but now they know it's floating.

I was just wondering did it make a difference? Does it promote aggression? Does it mean one is better/healthier 'cause of the density and floats or sinks? Would the floating pellets encourage the fish to jump out the tank?

Does it even matter? Whats a good pellet to buy?

I dont really understand your question, i use Hikari cichlid gold floating pellets for my oscar and, i actually encourage him to jump for his food occasionally.
The floating and sinking type of hikari gold has the same ingredients but 1 floats and 1 sinks lol.

There's different quality from brand to brand, but as far as sinking versus floating there is really no difference. It just depends on what your fish prefer. My large cichlids will not look twice at sinking food, it literally drops right before their eyes and they keep staring up at the surface wondering what the heck I'm doing. I used to keep frontosa and they would not come up top to feed for their lives (plus it's not good for that particular species since they come from deep water)

IMO, Hikari is the best. Most of their food is floating but I think they recently started offering a sinking pellet as well.
