My pair would spawn al the time I for free swimmers. It's not rare they are easy to breed if you have a good pair. The problem is that it's common for them to eat the eggs and when that happens it's hard to raise them you know.

I don't know much about shrimp. But what are the shrimps needs? Do they need good watr flow what temps are they happy in. They might not be a good match because discuss and shrimp have differant needs. Shrimp are tasty .

Are you planing on only keeping 2 discus? Chances are you will not get fry unless you try. Discus ae not easy to breed and often eat eggs. If you keep them with other fish the fry will get picked off. So being worried about discus fry is nothing to be conceded with. Mine spawn but they never hatch.

Yeah I know that. I have algea in this tank and I just control it by cleaning my tank and algea often. It works for me. I don't mind some algea as long as I can control it and keep it from going crazy.
