What are you doing today?

It's been hot here too, but nothing like Texas. I'm going to try a short run with the Badgerling this morning, the first in a very long time, and the first real exercise of any kind since I came down with covid a week ago.

I'm not even walking my dogs this morning. Need to get truck in for an alignment, and they have little enough potty time before the heat is too hot even for grass

Nothing could ever make me want to live in Texas.

So I'll try to cope with 70f, and wind. I just planted seeds for soup season vegetables, to try to stagger their development until the greenhouse is needed. This year's greenhouse crop is where it was in August last summer. Nothing grew last year - no sun and too much rain. So far, this summer has been great.

I love my town, but I wouldn’t mind living somewhere with a colder climate. I prefer wearing cold-weather clothes to warm-weather clothes; I feel like I have more options. And what’s the point of having summer from May to October if it’s gonna be TOO hot to go outside for half of that?

My idea exactly. Give me a climate that never gets hotter than 70 and it can get a cold as 20. I'm happy with that.

Tell me about it. I haven't had a winter cold enough for a sweater except during snowmageddon and about a week of last winter.

Finally rehomed my zebra danios and single white cloud, because the largest danio has been bullying the other fish out of the middle of the tank.
Pro: My platies and limia are already enjoying their new freedom!
Con: My entire tank stocking is now just 2 platies, a single limia, 2/3 shrimp, and 2 otos.

Being understocked right this second might not be the worst thing, since I’m going to be away from home the first entire two weeks of July (family can care for the tank the second week at least). But I will look forward to the tank being lively again.

In other news: I’m getting the tank for my second tank later today!

I just watched Vivaldi’s opera, Orlando Furioso on utube. Wonderful. Especially the music in act 1.

I would live in Texas for lots of money. Then I could endure it for a year or two, then take all my money and buy a nice place somewhere less miserable.

Jeans and a light wool shirt are my go-to. In Wyoming, it's my uniform about 9 months out of the year, with a varying number of layers over the top when it gets really cold. The other three months I'm in shorts and a Tshirt. It isn't too bad.

Here, on the Fundy coast in Canada, I have become a connaisseur of jackets. I have a very light one, a light one, a warmer one and upwards. One day it'll be 25c and it's t-shirt weather, but the next it could be 15, and I'd need a jacket or a sweatshirt. When I lived in Montreal, I had 3 jackets for the whole year - here, I have 5. You just never know, from day to day, or from morning to afternoon. The other day had temperatures reaching 30c. It was shorts and a t-shirt weather. I fired up the barbecue at around 7pm, and I could see my breath.
All it takes is a subtle change in wind direction, and suddenly, it's the Atlantic ocean calling. This morning we were fogged in til noon, and now it's blazing sunshine, and raining.
I love this, because I'm a cool weather creature. We have no AC, but between April and late October, we don't need to heat the house. The winter is long though, and I made my greenhouse because the growing season can be tight.

I can dispense with winter here in north NY. Great for about 42 weeks the other 10 can be unpredictably miserable. We RV’d for about 10 months a year for several years so never had any real cold weather to deal with for quite a space. Now we just hunker down for a couple months.

As I've indicated in earlier posts I'm looking to get an electric trike and finally started looking for deals today. May have found the winner. Higher top speed than the others I've been looking at with a 50 mile range and ~$300.00 less expensive than the others. LOL! still not a speed demon but a 20MPH top speed while the other 2 I've been considering are 14&16 MPH. Really he furthest that I travel is a bit over 5 miles to the local Veteran's Administration. That would be just over a 15 minute ride. Looks like a winner and I may order July 3rd when my Social Security and Navy pension hit my bank. I could order right now but it would pretty much wipe out my what I call 'slush fund' for larger purchases and there is only an 8 difference.

One of the weirdest climate things is that my region is a cruise ship destination. Some mornings, I can see three of them sailing past. People from warm areas in the USA come up in summer to enjoy our coastal cool. They aren't great for the environment, but they are a boon to the local economy. The uptown bars and restaurants depend on them, and a lot of people do tour guide deals.

How are the suspensions on those trikes? I imagine you could get jolted around pretty well on a city street at that speed.

Actually the Narrak has dual spring loaded front shocks with another under the seat. The only solid suspension seems to be the back axle.

Anyway the decision is over as I just ordered the Narrak. It just seemed the best option when considering the higher top speed and the MUCH higher torque ability as I live in the eastern foot hills of the Rocky Mountains. Considering that it is $300.00 USD less than the other two I was looking at it just seemed a no-brainier especially as there were only two left in stock. It DID wipe out my slush fund bank account for larger purchases but why wait as in 5 days I will be putting $200.00 back in the account. Since I will not any longer be paying car insurance and gas the trike will pay for itself fairly quickly.

Well, that's all well and good, but I fear you failed to take the main thing into consideration: Do chicks dig it???
