So ugly that they're cute

Awww sorry to hear about the ones under the plant weight :/

Good pics of the surface dwellers :)

Jeez, you know I'm nearly always forgetting to plug heaters back in. I've got 8 tanks up and running now and I usually manage to miss one of them out. I went 2 days once till I noticed that the jarred boys were a bit quiet  luckily the lamp over their tank kept them warm enough.

I know,it's so hard to remember. I'm not used to it because it's usually so warm here. I've only used heaters with the last three spawns. Thankfully it's warm here lately. Maybe winter is over :hey:

Well, today the babes have ventrals!!! :hyper: And anal and caudals in full form, everybody looks fantastic. I've noticed several staring hard at the surface so I expect labyrinths by the end of the weekend  It seems they've doubled in size over the past few days.

Also, I was thinking about my soon to be three month olds and how great their color is. Then I rewound back to my other spawns at 3 months compared to now at 5 and 7 months. Oh man, I think these are just going to get better and better! :hyper:

Almost one month old, they're now fully functioning with labyrinths and all that good stuff. No losses since the plant weight incident, all is well. They've been eating grindals and baby white worms lately, everybody looks great. Last night we had a "it went down the wrong way" incident,I came in to find a fry with a large worm sticking out of his mouth and laced through his gill,it was horrible. I decided not to leave him so I cupped him when he came up for air (which he couldn't get) and pulled it out with a tweezer, which was kind of funny... :look:
I've counted up to 30,without searching hard so I still have no certain count, I never do anyway so that's no biggie.

Anyway, this is when a fry tank is my favorite, right at the age when you're sure they're going to make it and before they start gathering at the front and getting pushy. I expect that any day. :grr:

Last update for this spawn. :( They grow so fast
They're two months old and still not showing signs of aggression so I haven't jarred anybody yet

I'm glad you said that and see it too, there are a couple who I look at and think...is that one...pink?!? But then I assume it's funny lighting :p
Thanks! I'm very proud of the turnout

So are there male and female babies there together? They all look the same to me so I can't really tell.

Yeah, the males have a longer, pointed anal fin and also long ventrals. The girls are showing ovipostors already too. There's still a couple who are questionable.

wow! they are all gorgeous

Its good that they aren't being all punky with eachother at 2 months, certainly saves on the water changes if they aren't jarred yet :D

Maaan those green ones are gonna be amazing! Think they'll be little daddy's?

And we know I'm partial to the pink ones

Thanks you guys  The next time you see them they will be jarred and in their own thread
