New Nano...'isle Of Anubis'

I'm not being rude here mate but if you find you like the layout and are unsettled and not sure whats wrong, move the island part to one side slightly. It will probably be fine but always a good idea to put the focal point off centre. :)

Not taken as being rude at all mate :good:.

The layout i liked from the off, doing it the way i did with putting the anubias initially onto the wood just wasn't going to work long term (for the reasons mentioned very early into the thread). I moved to the side because i felt it would be more stable for the wood due it it not being anchored down... this brought it's own problems (again mentioned) with the sand going bad.

With me having to sort the sand out, i decided to opt for what i originally preferred and started initially.

The centre island will suit the scape once grown in hopefully, off centre really lends it self to having a large rear plant behind it for a focal point..abit like the traditional triangle scape.... this tank will not allow it to look right with me doing it that way.... for this reason it is best (IMO) suited centrally as the main focal point and having lower level plants compliment it (sort of iwagumi styley lol).

The scape in itself now is far more adaptive, the staury and HC will hopefully just set it off and once it has shrimp... it should look (again imo) relatively good. The main factor for this is ease, the trimming and maintenance should be very easy now.

Cheers for the comments mate.... all input is appreciated :)

No worries mate, was just thinking about the whole rule of thirds or whatever it is, I dont stick to it myself its more a guideline anyway :) I know what you mean about ease of trimming tho, Eden and Cuban Delight are such a pain to trim now :( and I have to trim Eden today :(

I'm the same mate, i scape a tank to how i like it.... At the end of the day even though we do journals... as long we ourselves like the scape/layout that's really all that matters :).

The trimming side has to be minimal in this tank otherwise it really isn't worth keeping it running, the other tank will be the feature tank and if i get another i will have enough maintenance to do without having to do much to this one.

Thanks for the input anyways mate, always appreciated :)

P.S.... good luck with the trimming ;) :good:

I'm curious...what brand did you use for cat litter?
I like the texture of the litter...and BTW I think it your aquarium look great!

Yes unless you have tesco supermarkets over there ;)... not sure if sophisticat is available there but it's the same principle but larger granules..works well but harder to keep smaller root plants down in it

Forgot to add here that this has now been broken down.... i wasn't enjoying it and once that happened i lost all interest so will be concentrating on the 60l... thanks to all that commented....was nice to here so much positive feedback :).
