Lilacamy's Corydoras Log

Just a little update guys. Have had 4 hatch so far, 4 went fungussy and there are 4 left to go, fully developed just need the extra push. The four fungussy were at a opposite end of the tank and not as well filtered it seems during their development so luckily kept these separate from the others just in case. Cant believe the size difference looking at my 7 week olds compared to the newborns :hyper:

 Dont think the camera is going to pick up these specs, will see how they are in a couple of days if they make it and give it a go! :good:

Update a day later, all disappeared no bodies no nothing just like the last batch. Wriggling and eating this morning and nothing upon my return home. Odd how the two that are going were brought up this way. Decided upon further eggs to attempt them in a 2.5g on their own again (disaster this way last time). Have done two cold buckets on the 160 in a hopes that it will get them going again, especially with tomorrow off. I think perhaps the community fish are pulling them through the net somehow or filter too strong or they died and dissolved (though would have thought some evidence of this). Not much luck with fry so far what with nitrite spikes and disease (suspected) but will keep trying to get that perfection. (Think I put myself off tanks but going to give it another go :good: )

:- Just a quickie to say it is the frylets 8 week birthday tomorrow. I may leave it another week but seriously considering upgrading them to their own tank or the mansion breeder trap :friends:

Bit of bad news today peeps, they are 9 weeks old but found the smaller one dead this morning. By his death he was a quarter of the size of the other one and his tail was not fully developed even with all the food I threw at him. Im hoping it was something defective rather than anything I did, but he just hasnt grown in weeks, whereas the other one was colossal in comparison and his markings are coming out beautifully. Will try to get some updated piccies of him, really hope not to lose this one as he is adorable

Aww sorry to here the small one didnt make it,you've done nowt wrong,it just wasn't meant to be, :rip:

Good luck with the other one, would love to see pics :)

Greetings. In any group of fry there are always going to be runts. If all of the others are growing normally, it is highly unlikely that it is anything that you did. This is a very common occurrence. - Frank

Hi Frank thanks for that. Unfortunately there were only two in this batch (only eggs managed to save at the time) so no others to compare to as these are the oldest managed to raise. But the one that died have been worried for ages that he was on the runtish side..The one left is 9 weeks old today but he is doing really really well in growth from what i can tell. Thanks very much and thanks Harlequins :)

Edit: Here are some quick piccys

I certainly have made a fair few but definately not giving up and hope to perfect this much more :good: Have decided to get some bronze cories to give me plenty of practice (and they are beautiful  )

Whens the bronze cories coming then ;) :)

Once you've acclimatised the juvi i think it will be ok with the habrosus, but i'm not sure with the shrimps,i no nothing about shrimps
