Lilacamy's Corydoras Log

how big is that juvi cory? its looking awesome, and i absolutely love those gold stripes, its a shame ive never seen them where i live.

The tank is almost ready for the bronze cories, I think I need sand really as only pea gravel at the moment (the caudis and golds do really well on the pea gravel) what do you peeps think? The tank itself is mature with mature filter so good to go otherwise.

I worry about the shrimps as they are pretty enormous!

Hello mr130gallon he is about...1.5-2cm ish! He has really developed his spotted tail recently and markings. The gold stripes I ended up getting off aquarist classfieds as juveniles posted (paid a fair amount to use a proper fish courier) and they are gorgeous once they have settled. Locally never seen them which is a shame (but then again would probably be triple what i paid, as everywhere is usually extortionate for cories.)

Oh and p.s. yes yes I know I said no more cories, these bronze really will be the last of my tank space, I wanted to go with a more unusual perhaps hard to get hold of species but there is time, Im young in the fish keeping business. Hoping to win the lottery and have a fish room that would be the dream

I like sand for cories, but thats my personal choice, cories tend to filter sand through their gills, its quite amusing to watch my skunks do this.

But has your cauds & golds appear fine with pea gravel then go for it :)

How many bronze's are you going to get?

That is one thing I have never seen is the filtering of sand (this and the T position  ), I have three sets of cories, wonder if the grain is too large.

Hmmmmmm Im thinking perhaps a group of 6 to start and then maybe add to them or 8!

i have my bronze cories in pea gravel, and they do fine, but ill be switching to sand this summer, but not because of them.

Is it for the looks mr130gallon if dont mind me asking? Thanks for that, I shall plan a switch over tomorrow :good:

Ooo 6-8 bronzes awesome

The t position is very amusing,i seen my tri's do it quite a few times, there tends to be a lot of chasing & quivering side by side, then they form a t position, the female then shoots off to lay the eggs in some very well hidden spot for me to hunt out later

I would love to see the T position or even a female with a egg but generally when they do lay they do so over night or perhaps when I am at work. I sometimes see frisky action and chasing but that is it

@mr130gallon best of luck with the sand change over, I have found with my plants some do better in gravel and others in sand, so try to swap around until they start to flourish (though it doesnt always work).

Will let you guys know when have the update, I am asking a breeder at the moment on their stocking and having a good look round for some healthy ones.

I've never seen gold corys....beautiful, are you able to give me the latin name so I can get my lfs to order some in,.thinking of turning my 65L tank into a cory tank, once the platy fry are sold in 6 months time

Decided going to hold out for some play sand (me just being impatient as always) ust having to drag it home on the bus at some point.

Aw thanks lilyrose tank, they are gorgeous arent they I was completely taken with them when i saw them. I think they are CW010 but unsure...usually called gold peru stripes or gold lasers.. hope that helps (mattlee on here was selling them as well as green stripes, give him a buzz hon, also much cheaper than the local LFS).

Here are some proper piccys, he is a cutie if I say so myself
