p.s. tempted by habrosus or hastatus, cant decide?

Thanks guys, I did have some follow up questions on breeding? The caudis have spawned twice on their own accord so leaving them to it until tank space becomes available.

1.The pygmy cories, they were breeding lovey when they were in the small 4g with no lighting. Would the 10g space be daunting them? There are 6 currently (as long as upside down doesnt die) would they feel better if I tamper with lighting and bring the brood up to 12? How many are comfortable in a 10g?

2. The panda cories are tad smaller than pygmies but will be growing up, I have 8, what would be recommended tank space for these 8? They are currently in half of a 96 litre and wonder if that is enough?

All these little questions come up that Im sure are pure logic but like to get people's opinions :good:

Ideally leave them where they are, if they are currently breeding in the tank, then that's where they're happiest. Adding more to the brood is always a good idea, just make sure you take filtration into account.

That's more than ample, min size I would say would be about 60L.

Hi lilacamy931 :)

I've enjoyed reading this thread and looking at all the pictures! :thanks:

I use a ten gallon tank for my spawning C. pandas. At any given time there are 8 or 9 of them in there and they do quite well. It's just easier to collect the eggs in a small tank than in the 55 gallon. It helps if you can keep their water a bit on the cool side.

As for your pygmy corys, there's an old saying that goes something like, "Don't mess with success." If they have spawned for you under certain conditions, keep with it and they are likely to spawn again.

Good luck with your efforts.:)

Thanks very much guys (and thanks very much Inchworm!!)

Would it be possible to add further to the pandas? Not many more, say 4-8 and some shrimp??

With the pygmies, I mixed up! They did very well in the 4 gallon, they are now in the 10gallon and only spawned the once...Im wondering if all that space is too much for them and whether to move them back to the 4 gallon or perhaps increase their numbers by 6?

Thanks tremendously for all the help, hope to have more to add to this journal soon!

Todays update, one dead cory and one upside down one. Had to do water change due to dead one (I think!) and hospitalised the upside down one for some treatment though when it comes to sick fish not overly hopeful. Currently looking into getting more pygmies, none of the locals have them now and so needing to check one last store. When I do get more will not be introducing in with the current 4/5 left just in case something is going down in the tank and also not to introduce anything more!

Sorry to hear your pygmys are not doing too well at the moment, hopefully things will get better. :look:

Bristol has quite a few pygmys at the moment, which is unusual! :good:

 Thanks for the heads up! Liiiiitttle ways away ;) I will bide my time, though the shop seeing tomorrow can order if they are on list, fingers crossed

Your corydoras all look lovely, I'm so jealous! When you get some Panda fry I would be more than welcome to take some off your hands for you lol Good luck! :)

LOL thanks guys, you would certainly be welcome to some miss.Original  Though at the mo they seem babies themselves so need them to mature soon, little update. The LFS are getting 6 Habrosus and 6 Hastatus in (not the normal pygmies as they call them, typical  ) may end up going for both depending when he rings me back with the prices today! :hyper:

Will get an updated pic of the two caudimaculatus fry as they are developing well and differently from the pygmy fry (though not much fry rearing experience). One is so much larger and definately stealing the show
