nahhh i have really hard water being i have a well in florida. and none of my eggs fungus. Now if you have large amounts of bacteria in your water thats another problem.

The parameters of your water are within comfort level of your fish i wouldnt even bother. They will spawn wiothout a bother of softness and alkalinity

Im not sure where peopel get the idea of convicts eating plants. Ive had convicts for quite a while with many diffrent plants. The never so much as fondled aplant. The only time they do have tendencies to move plants is during pre spawning ceremonies,but then again if plants are well anchored...

You can use fans on the water surface to help dissipate heat, and also if money is not a problem there are always chillers. Besides dont you peope have A/C. most fish will be fine at high temps in the summer alot of the time in their native habitats they are exposed to extremes of both levels...

I suppose that would work, but You wouldnt be able to control temperatures. Thats about the only downside i can think of. So i guessit depends on your fish and the water temps

I refute your claim pertaining to all of her Molllies will be eaten. Wiht my experience Convictsdo not think of them as threats and dont even bother with them. Even during spawning they will just nudge away ever so gently at most.
