Ok...

I have a breeding pair of Cons. in a 29 gal tank. They had there first batch of fry about 2 weeks ago. I let them tend to there young for about a week and a half, and then started to remove the fry (feeders for my 65 gal). There are about 7 fry left. Now.....Today i was watching them and they seemed perfectly fine...i left the room for 10 mins. When i came back the male was flarin and the female was in the top corner with a nasty wound to her side...I thought she was done for....but i did a water change and she now seems to be ok...Wounds still there and looks bad...but she is still hovering around the fry....and rushing him when he comes close..

Did i do something wrong...should i have removed all the con fry at once..?

I did a water change because my conditioner has aloe vera...and hoped it would maybe help her a bit....any other ways....I'd hate to loose her... :-( help!

i think hes preety annoyed that the fry are gone cuz cons are one of the most protective fish of there fry.

maybe he just had a bad moment...
my female looked like that when she got home from the lfs, took a beating in the bag on the way...
but since then, they are just sooo sweet to eachother... and the wound has healed pretty fast.
I hope it stays that way, their first batch of fry is just becoming freeswimming as I'm typing this, very neat to see...
I'm gonna leave them in with the parents...

when i breed cons, i take the pair to a 10 gallon and i let the father do his job. afterwards, i put him back into the main tank to let the female raise the young. if i find fry in the main tank i just syphon them out when they are free swimmers. you should put ur male in "timeout" which is usually a 5 gallon bucket with an air stone and preferably a heater. if you have livebearers and have a breeders trap, that will work too. gl

Thnx for the replys.....He is still agressive towards her...im working on a breeding net...which ill use in my 65 gal. Should i take all the remaing fry out..?
Again thnx for the help...

p.s. Even though hes bein mean...shes putting up a fight..

i wouldnt know about taking the rest out. it could furthermore fuel his anger or just erase it. the female is fighting a losing battle though. try getting a breeders net though as a temporary solution to isolate him when necessary

Take them all out the sooner they are gone the sooner he can get over this.
