convicts and plants

if i put plants in my tank with my convicts will they be ok or will the convicts eat them?
i want to have lots of plants in my tank and i was told that the convicts eat the plants.. this just is not far..
i already have the convicts but it seems that maybe i should find homes for them and do something else..

from my experience no my cons never ate the plants but they moved them alittle bit

Covicts will consume most plants they come into contact with. They may be kept with some hardy plants but nothing is garunteed

Im not sure where peopel get the idea of convicts eating plants. Ive had convicts for quite a while with many diffrent plants. The never so much as fondled aplant. The only time they do have tendencies to move plants is during pre spawning ceremonies,but then again if plants are well anchored you wont have trouble.

depends on the fish, mine ripped them out of the gravel, IME Cichlids + Plants dont mix.

mine don't eat the plants, but they do like to pull them out of the sand...

Yeah during mating they pull them out and they spawn about every 2 weeks.
