The only way to control ammonia without a filter is to do lots of water changes.

i dont think neons are interested in female guppys. EDIT: just realised you changed guppys to neons, sorry about that :good: I wouldn't worry about it to much just keep an eye on them :good:

The tank is far to small for the catfish they need a much bigger tank. Also the betta and guppy shouldn't be in the same tank. A fluval edge is not suited to a betta because they breath air and strugle to do so in the edge. i would re home the betta and catfish, and then buy some cherry...

UV sterilisers are about 20-30 but if you have a big tank they will be more. If you kept your filter media (without washing it) you would not have to recycle. It sounds like a internal bacterial infection but not sure which one (i'm no expert) Your best bet would be lots of large water...

yeah your test results would be useful? A gourami would be fine in 6.4PH not far from their natural habitat. I think there is some other cause to your fish's behaviour.

A PH of 6.4 isn't much to worry about unless you have hard water fish. What fish do you have in there? the PH products available don't work because the don't change the KH and GH of your water so the PH crashes again. A stable PH is much better than a fluctuating one even if its wrong. Have a...

Hi what plecs are they? and how big are they? What other fish do you have in the tank? When fish die there bodies can be eaten very quickly buy the other fish.
