Water Cange Killing Fish

Hi I am quite new to tropical fish keeping.

I have had a tank set up with fish for about six months, I have just changed the water and came down to find 6 of my 20 sif dead and the rest swinning at the top of the tank. I want to take the fish from the tank as they are clearly dying aswell. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to do this.

I changed around 40% of the water and used tap safe which I have done many times before, I also use filter start each time I clean the filter. The water is also looking very cloudy.

Please help me with advice to enable me to atleasr save the remaining fish.

How long between doing the water change and the fish dying?
How do you clean the filter?
Did you clean the filter this time?

Ring your water supplier and ask them if any pipe maintenance has been done.
