hi all ,sorry if this is in the wrong place wasn't really sure where to put it :/.

im saving up to buy a new tank

im planning on getting this tank :fish:
http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/aquarium-supplies/aquariums/interpet-aquariums/interpet-fish-pod-aquarium-64.html
i was wondering if anyone had used this website before ??? ,and if it's a good idea in general to buy online ,iv'e had bad experiences buying cages online ,(bad packaging etc) never mind a fragile glass tank. (never bought a tank online before)

thanks for any help :) and again sorry if it's the wrong section

you would get more for your money if you buy second hand from gumtree or ebay

:/ hmmm i wasn't sure on that ,because what would happen if i got a second tank and it had a leak ?? i would hardly be able to get a refund :D lol ,i would be worried for getting scammed. :/ surely it's better first hand for the quality ?? :)

i've used seapets, not for a tank mind, and had no issues :good:

i bet most people on here have bought second hand over new.

i've got an aquaone 850 (165 litre) for less than what your gonna pay for that and trust me if it had leaked i'd have been taking it back

i've also got a jewel reckord 60 litre and stand with heater, filter etc for £15

that's the problem how would you take it back :)?? ,i would be worried for them being aggressive and abusive etc.

glad someone has bought from seapets before :).

when i look at second hand tanks i asked a lot of people if i could view the tank holding water and alot of people was happy to do so

Hi there....

I got my new Juwel Rio 125 from angelfishaquatics and was impressed with their service. I did have a problem with the first tank that was delivered as it turned out it had a large crack when I opened it up but they were very good at sending out a replacement within a week.

Regards

Phil

Hi i bought a juwel 300 from there with no problems

If most people buy tanks second hand where do they all come from in the first place?
Most people must buy new tanks which they then sell which makes the second hand market.

If you can have a look at the tank set up with no leaks then second hand is good but you will still get scratches ect

it all depends on your buget , wether you need the filter etc to come with it , wether youre buying new or used etc .

i recommend nd aquatics. i got my 500 litre from them and i cant fault the experience from the quality of the product to the overall service i recieved.

i alwayus like to buy new tbh, afterall its a piece of furnature in my living room and i want it to look as nice as it can. obviously they are bargains to behad second hand though aswell.

i don't really want to spend much more than £120 on the tank :) ,and i would prefer if it cam ewith the heater filter lighting etc.

new prefered (As i don't like using things like ebay) :)

sorry for the double post

I bet its people that buy tanks with good intentions, but haven't read up on what their doing, all their first fish die, and they lose heart. Thats how i got mine!

I'd not buy a second hand tank unless it was immaculate, and I had seen it before I bidded on it.
I was considering getting a second hand 4ft, and spent a long time sifting through adverts, and really get fed up of the amount of wallys wanting silly money for their carpy second hand tanks, and even including fish like the red tail cat which shouldn't even be in the aquarium trade. The same seller expected the winning bidder to empty the tank themselves as well

I ended up buying new again. In fact, I have never bought a second hand tank. It's not like I'm rich, far from it, but I think of it that for an extra £100 or so I could have a brand new tank delivered to my door.

Seapets should be OK to buy from online. They are my most local LFS, and always have a good range of aquariums in stock, and their prices aren't bad. Just don't buy any fish from them, or expect them to be able to ID a species properly
