whats the easiest ay to diagnose fish tb? ive been looking it up on the net and i cant find an easy way to diagnose it since most of the symptoms could be soemthing else?
ive had a bad outbreak of a disease not that long ago and i never found out what it was, im scared it could have been tb and that 2 more fish are infected right now

oh also, its not the strain that looks like bloody chunks out of the fish, i heard there are other strains that have different symptoms?

Hi, do you have any symptoms?
What symptoms do the fish have?
What fish do you have?
What are your water stats?

symptoms; sometimes vary a bit from fish to fish mostly body fades to whitish loses all colour just before death, fins get eaten away rapidly(within a few hours to nothing) fish dies within 2 days of symptoms showing up, they cant swim, they float to the surface and cant move.a couple died with no symptoms. Also it attacks the tank randomly and i dont understand why, it was brought in on a dodgy fish and since then i have had it 3 seperate times.

fish affected; 7 guppies died, one survived and a few fry, 1 harlequin rasbora died, 1 neon tetra died, there is one guppy i have right now i was worried about but i dont think he has the same thing, only symptom is the fins have been eaten away so is being treated with waterlifes myxazin, also he has lived 5 days,i have one leopard danio right now from a different tank with a crooked spine and cant swim properly, i dont know if its the same thing

water stats; normal, 0 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate pH 7.6 (APImaster liquid tests)

EDIT; could it be that whatever it is stays in the water and kills fish that have been weakened?

Hi, there are lots of bacterial infections with similar symptoms to fish TB. Fish TB is very rare so is not very likely to be this.

I would up the number and amount of water changes and maybe empty the tank and clean it all with bleach.

Do any of the fish show signs of bloating or bent spines?

Another thought may be to get a UV steriliser to kill all bacteria in the water (i have never done so my self but could be an option)

ok how much would an average UV steriliser cost?
would i not have to recycle the tank if i clean it with bleach?
only bent spine is in the danio and yes i think one or 2 of the guppies had a bit of bloating do you have an idea as to what it is?
thanks

UV sterilisers are about 20-30 but if you have a big tank they will be more.

If you kept your filter media (without washing it) you would not have to recycle.

It sounds like a internal bacterial infection but not sure which one (i'm no expert)

Your best bet would be lots of large water changes.

good Luck
