I have my male in a Fluval Spec which is 2 gallons and has a filter. He likes it so far as he builds his bubble nests :)

did you say Cherry barb? they would probably fight to death! I'd remove the male asap. I am also new at Betta's too, but you need to do more research it seems google is your best friend :D

Bill does look beat up poor guy. I would use Melafix for his tail and fin damage.

hmm interesting, i would presume they would be blue or red. Does it matter which type of Betta's are breed together.. like half-moons and crowntails or veil tails with crowntails.. will they produce? i know veiltail are not a desired type and may produce a wonky batch of fry bc of how they are...

I think that is what i saw at the shop today LOL. Do you think that since i only fed him dry brine shrimp it may of made him sick? He tends to float at the side or below but when i got near he perks up just fine tho. is that normal behavior? :P

He is pretty, i have a Veil Tail too, mines is red with a light cream blue. I have a 2gallon with 1 Anubis plant and a Marimo Ball. I agree sometimes I wonder if my Betta is okay, because he can sit lifeless resting lol. But he perks up swims around happy :D

Most pet shops will test your water for you free. The one here uses liquid test so i would go there. Just keep-up with water changes and don't over feed. In 6 weeks it should be cycled up. Good Luck.

Ill have to give those pelette foods a try I guess. I fed him some pease cooked and muched down to help with his digestion.

I ended up just using a fishnet swooshed the water around and captured whatever floated up into the net. thanks again.

My Betta has started making all these bubbles (looks like flem) on the side of the tank LOL. Maybe he is trying to tell me he wants a female companionship. Just an update.. I haven't had a chance yet to use a different cleaning method but will do this evening. What types of things do you guys...

is there an actual syphon small enough for this 2gallon? i tried my mid-size syphon it's too big hehe.

So I'am trying to find a way to clean the sand in the tank. Since it is small i cannot use the vacuum thingie.. any ideas.. or is sand not good? I also have a live plant so it needs something.

Some can argue that, female Guppies (since they tend not to have colorful tails and long fins) maybe okay with a Betta.

No I'm not bc the hole is not that big even if it did, he wouldn't get far as I am right in the room always with him.

From what i read a 2gallon should be considered the monimal. of course the bigger the better. 2gallons is fine for a single betta. Mines is doing fine in a Fluval Spec.

I have a spec its a new setup. Its fine. The only problem I think is the power filter tube is too strong.
