My First Betta

I got my first ever betta a couple of weeks back and have finally got some pictures, i know hes just a veiltail but I think he is stunning...Hope you like him

Should I be worried about the missing scale, see picture 1

Also what plants do bettas like?

he is very pretty! i personally would not worry about the missing scale. just keep an eye on it and make sure that no fungus appears. his tail looks a little ripped though. i would watch that to make sure it is not tail rot. as for the plants, my bettas like all plants but it is said that they like big leafed plants that they can 'rest' on. what is his name?

his name is apollo and yes the ripping is from plastic plants that were originally in his tank and thank you

My Bettas have anubias, wisteria & java ferns in their tanks.
They seem to prefer to rest on the java ferns as they're the tallest plants.
I also got some styrofoam cups which I cut up & put some java moss in & they like to go in those to sleep

bettas are so lazy sometimes . i have a half of styrofoam cup and my little George has made a 3x2 inch bubble nest in it!
love the name Apollo BTW!

Thanks guys, he made his first bubble nest a couple of days ago (Not guite as big as georges by the sound of it ) but yesterday when i did the water change i accidentally destroyed it, hes built another one overnight, is there anyway to aviod destroying them?

unfortunately no. i am going to be sad when i clean George's tank because his nest is 2x3 in!

Comocrayfish5 you think 2x3" is big? This was my males first nest... The lid was there because it fell in and he built a nest under it...

The tank he was in is an 8 Gallon tank... The heater is a normal sized 50 Watt Heater...

Yeah I felt so bad for him because although I was planning to breed him I had to get all the sand and gravel out so the water was down for him to get used to having lower water and I was going to take the sand/gravel out that day... I looked in and found him guarding that...

He is pretty, i have a Veil Tail too, mines is red with a light cream blue. I have a 2gallon with 1 Anubis plant and a Marimo Ball. I agree sometimes I wonder if my Betta is okay, because he can sit lifeless resting lol. But he perks up swims around happy
