Yesterday, I recorded a video about Betta's tankmates. It has been a controversial topic for me since 2012.

Also, I took more pictures of old buildings.

Gabriel Garcia de Figueiredo house (Barão de Monte Santo). Nowadays, the owner is Paulo Theóphilo Dias (probably his son).

I still did not find out what building this casarão is

Casa Paroquial for sale... Too bad... it deserves a good restoration.

Canister filter has leaked all over the oak stand my 90L sits on.. Another thing to add to the list of things to deal with

This is going to be a drill and chop saw day. I'm going to modify a stand that holds 8 10 gallons and one 5 gallon, with the goal of reducing the amount of space it takes, and eliminating a stand that's making the floor look very cramped. I'm clearly incapable of standing pat with the fishroom. There always has to be a better way of doing things, even if it isn't better!

I lived in 17 different houses before I was 30, and I think I may have developed a need for change in my houses as a result of that. If I can't keep on moving, I can keep on reshaping. I don't even have to buy wood for this - it's all done with old wood. This rack will be a cut up IKEA bunkbed structure we aren't going to use anymore, but that the kids pretty well wore out back in the day. We replaced it as a guest bed and rather than the dump...

My original fishroom idea was unrealistic for a man my age and height. I built a traditional set up with low tanks - high enough to use gravity for water changes, but just. This will empty the entire lower rack and put the last of those tanks on a rack at 40 inches and 60 inches off the floor, so I can easily look in and enjoy the goings on in these killie tanks, without undue strain on my wrecked knees.

We've had 36 hours of at times heavy rain, and the snow is shrinking away fast. Time to splash my way across the yard and get to work.

No school today. We got about a foot and a half of heavy, wet snow from the latest storm. 'Tis the season: We usually get most of our snow--and most of our moisture for the year--in the spring and early summer. So, I expect to spend most of my day off moving snow from less convenient locations to slightly more convenient locations.

If I still have any time and/or energy after that is all done, I plan to attach a beautiful bullsnake skin to this beautiful juniper/elk sinew bow I've been working on all winter. I'm looking forward to that. It should be more fun than shoveling, at least.

I’m off to my lfs. I have 5 juvenile gold Sailfin Mollies born in November that I want them to buy or take for free. I also need to purchase a couple of assassin snails for my breeder tank. It’s getting wild in there.

Today, my live plants (Salvinia and Lemna) arrived. I decided to treat with 1:19 formula (1 part of sodium hypochlorite per 19 parts of water) with 10 minutes (according to this website). However, it seems that several of the live plants have turned white. Oh no, what now? Would I cause some damage to them? I hope the remaining can grow.

I uploaded a short from an archive from 2023:

Yesterday I visited my ancestors' tomb. Indeed, it was luck because since my great-grandfather died in 1971, the location name was changed.

Recently, a shopping mall was inaugurated in the small town of Mococa, where I lived for most of my life. Something that is popular in Brazil and common in several medium-sized cities, in a town with only 68,000 inhabitants, is a great news and to some extent, impressive. Obviously, the shopping mall is small. I still did not explore the new mall.

The poetry project remains. The new gym instructor is pretty and she is indirectly helping with my inspirations. I do not know if I mentioned this before, but I recently discovered the artist Björk Guðmundsdóttir. She has some interesting music and this also may help with my poetry. I even wrote a poem inspired directly on her.

I want to go to Brazil someday. Since I was a kid, I thought about seeing the Amazon and the jungle, and I still wouldn't say no to that opportunity. But the cities are starting to interest me too.
I worked hard all my life, and went nowhere because I didn't have the extra money. Now I'm retired, with a modest travel budget, but I don't quite have the physical resources I used to. I'm not in terrible shape, but I have to be realistic about the state of my older body here. Hmmm.

So today, I'll think of places I haven't been to, but could still go to, and drink coffee in the meantime.

March 8. Happy International Women's Day to all.

Another step done in my little setup.

Rack is leveled real good and both shelves passed triangulation test.

I was able to summon one of my closest buddy and he appeared like a genie, we moved the old tank aside, full, in 35 seconds... Ha, The beauty of small tanks.

I still have to wait for the tubing and power bars. It's in the mail... I'll wait until all the weight of both tanks are on the rack for a little while before fixing it to the wall, to avoid shearing as much as possible.

The installation made me conclude that both the wall and the floor are not straight.

Loll.
