Tina's Twin Bommies

With regards to LED`s I am trying to save a few more pounds by ordereing http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25367 3 at a time if I rember correctly under £15 is import tax exempt with free worldwide delivery this will work out roughly £3 each at current exchange rates I have ordered my first 3 last night so I will have a better idea when they arrive ;)

They look like they could be good ones to use, correct colour spectrum, but it isn't clear from the spec if they are full spectrum or three colours blended to get the "white" spectrum. If it's the latter, you've got a lemmon. If you have the former, you have good LED's  You can tell which type they are, as the latter will almost deffinately have three emitters inside the dome if you apply a small currect (from a Voltmeter in the Diode test setting for instance) I'd double check before you buy more though

All the best
Rabbut

EDIT, how rude of me. Those manderins are cracking. Thank's for the videos Tina

Don't be sorry, would rather know about the LED's now before I look into them.

I am seriously in love with these Mandarins. The behaviour is sooooo different in a pair, I am glued to the tank constantly now.

I will do the thread I think. It will be useful to me and others contemplating pairs, I would love to get them spawning on video. I am going to wait till I think they are a little randy, then switch the white light on and off, see what that does, I read it worked for some. If the moonlight is still on, I can still get video, otherwise I need to light the camera and that may startle them. I may not be ready to purposefully raaise eggs yet, but it does them no harm to get that pair bond going.

It was my understanding that mandys mate at dusk, so not sure why turning the light on and off would work?

I am not either Seffie. I read it, I think on WWM, they seem to get together in my tank once the lights drop to actinics. They initiated the behaviour on video as the lights dropped to moonlight LED'S.

When I turned off the moonlights on the first night, was when the male shot to the surface. I read that if the pair are spawning you can initiate a spawning event by flicking lights on and off.

I tried it last night, but I think she had a headache

Going to start that thread and I can document everything there. Found a few links that are worthwhile too.

Rabutt, he was not my choice, it was Andrew's, he liked the False Gramma (Pseudochromis), I would not risk that though so pointed him to the Royal Gramma.

I am really pleased we got him now. Has turned out a beautiful fish and adds such a lot to the tank, especially at night when the black markings show up.

Frogspawn has been in the tank for a week now. Has settled in very well I think.

Cleo has realised that there are pods coming from the return pipe from the sump. I missed her upside down under the return pipe, just did not the camera quick enough.

Just shows, girlies are pretty clever :good:
