Tina's Twin Bommies

watching this lighting issue with interest - and Tina, I thought T5s had to be replaced once a year with their output starting to be affected after 8 months

That may be it Seffie, I knew the full output did not last the full 12 months.

I am tempted to just add 2 T5's, run the 55w as whites and 36w as actinics and see how I go with that.

Then I could see what the arrays are like.

If Rabutt can give me some idea of what equipment would be needed to make the LED's and perhaps a wiring diagram, I could probably do that though. Would maybe forgo the Linear T5's then. The tubes are horrendously expensive up here.

In an ideal world, these new arrays would live up to expectation and be a nice addition to the lighting I already have. LED's do interest me due to the reduced electricity and not having to change a bulb.

I have found the dual aquarays for £140 a set, 3 sets of those (£420) would give what is recommended by TMC, yes not enough for the tank, but would it be enough in combination with my PC's?? I like the shimmer and they would hardly use any electric.

I popped to the LFS, my usual one this afternoon because I needed some water.

I ended up coming out with a fish.

I bet there are some people that can guess what I have.

Oh my goodness it is stunning.

Can't tell you yet, you have to wait for photos, its acclimatising now. :hyper:

Why does lighting have to be sooooooooo complicated
Lovely pics by the way ;)

Thanks Trod.

The lighting is driving me mad. Its the only thing really, unless I start thinking about ways for adding calcium and reactors and ....... Think I will think about that another time.

I am too excited about my new fishy :fish:

You are going to love it. I know you will. I cannot wait to get it in there and take a piccie for you all to see. :hyper:

You both knew that was the only fish that would get me so excited, didn't you.

£30 Ben. Could not resist, sat watching for about 10 minutes to sex her.

As soon as I saw it was female, I said, "sorry, she is coming home with me"

I am still so excited, I keep watching the tank.

OMG :hyper: OMG............she is gorgeous AND red, where did you find her and did they have any more

Oh I am soooo looking forward to seeing your photos of the love birds

Seffie, it was my normal LFS, Mcmillans in Preston. That was the only one they had AND she had been there for 2 weeks nearly, can you believe that, 2 weeks. If I had gone in last week she would not have been there that long.

Ben that was why I could not resist. Seen them before on Live Aquaria, always more expensive than the Green. To be honest, she usually sells Mandarins of that size for £28 so I paid £2 extra for the Red. :kana:

That Mandy is stunning (I guessed what it was, I don't think anyone would have guessed that one wrong). Such lovely colours. Time to get a lon for my new massive tank... Well done TI stunning.
