Tina's Twin Bommies

Ah ha..............know I know

Would love a screen saver from your new tank plus photos of the new fish you put in after your holiday :good: would happily pay for the costs

How about instead of costs, a very small frag of something like zoas. Travel very easily in the post too. Probably would just need a very small polystyrene box and double bagged to post in. Probably have one lying around if you have ordered frags off the internet, I do.

If you can't do that, no matter, costs would be fine.

If I can remember how to do it, I can add music to the disc too so that it plays as a photo CD slide show. I usually use Adobe Photoshop elements for slideshows, It will play on any TV / DVD too, did a 2 disc one for the holiday we had in Kenya on Safari in 2006. That was the reason I bought this camera by the way. All you would need to do is copy the file to your hard drive and select it as screen saver.

EDIT, I am just going to do some back up copies of photies now, just incase the dratted computer decides to crash again before I get chance to do them. I will be happy to personalise the photo choices for anyone that does want one.

That sounds good Tina :good: no music for me though, going to take mine to school and put on my office computer :good:

Its a done deal then.

Oh do we need to do this fish list now, I want a fish not long after we get back. Andrew has not had time to come to normal LFS with me, may be able to this week, if he meets me at moms after he finishes work.

I may even take my camera with me, see what fishes she has. Need to photograph that frogspawn for you anyway Seffie. Now that will make you drool.

I cannot buy the coral itself, as it is a very rare one, the lady has it in her display tank. The man that bought the original corals yrs before gave it to her as a frag. She has grown this one and is constantly asked if she will sell it. The man that owns the mother colony regularly frags it, I hope to be on the list for a frag once it is fragged again.

I believe when she originally sold the mother colony it was quite a large one and was sold for £200.

£200.oo!!!! i havent spent that much on my whole tank yet haha :D

There is a gorgeous bubble there bagu, the individual bubbles are about double the size of a cadburys mini egg, it is about the same size as my pearl bubble coral and is £110. I was very tempted but went for my first bubble.

I have some good news about the bubble that was ailing. Following the fresh water dip and leaving it shaded by the leather, it is starting to open its polyps again. They are not as expanded or all over the coral yet, but I am now hopeful that it will recover. It has sulked for 2 weeks so far, I reckon it will be another 2 weeks before the polyps are expanded all over. I have a firm belief that the Korallen Zucht has helped considerably with this. It does say that it promotes tissue repair and regeneration, I really think it has made a difference.

I am going to have to do another water change tomorrow, there are patches of cyano again. I am very tempted to give it a 48 hr black out for the first 2 days of my holiday, leave it covered till the first time mom comes to feed them and top off. Mom could then just plug the lights back in when she comes over, it may well sort the problem better than doing these water changes that are a bit much for me at the moment. I can do water changing twice or 3 times a week, it is the bending over the tank with the siphon getting the algae that is the problem. I would also rather the tank was covered whilst I am away rather than have to cover it whilst I am at home.

Sounds great TI, can't wait to see pics of this one. We've got plenty of captive-only corals in my local club that go for similar costs.

Should be going on Thursday afternoon Ski ^^ :good:

A little update, the Eheim pump I ordered along with the brine shrimp hatcher did not arrive. I sent a message yesterday saying that if I had not received by tomorrow I would start a dispute. They refunded the money in full, I feel I was very lucky there.

I have now used Aquacadabra (through Ebay) instead and ordered the same bits plus a Salifert phosphate kit as I am not happy with the API one. I ended up getting a new KH kit too as I have been using that in freshwater beore setting up marine and it is running out. Whilst on, I ordered the calcium as well as I am fed up with the API one getting me wet when shaking the test tube.

I spent another hour last night cleaning the algae from the rocks, it does seem better again today. As soon as my Ultiphos delivery arrives I will replace the media that is in there. Will also change carbon at the same time.

We are going to the place tonight that sells Turbos cheaper, going to get a few more. May get something else aswell if Andrew wants to be nice to me.

Bubble is opening a little more each day again, so I am still optimistic there, will be really happy if I managed to save it. Really not sure why it has been so poorly, I must have somehow damaged some tissue in the move, as when it was starting to open in the new tank, it seemed to have bits of brown on it, these are thankfully gone now since I did the freshwater dip. Hoping it was not brown jelly.

Moms lesson for today is feeding frozen food, showing her how much to feed and how to wash it first. Also teaching her to squirt a little under the rock for the Banded Serpent star. As soon as feeding commences, his legs appear from behind a rock. Will start tempting him out when I get back off holiday, just want to make sure he is getting some food whilst I am away. I know the serpents don't eat fish (apart from the green one) but I want to make sure he is not hungry and thinking to capture anything else (just me making sure) whilst I am away. At least I know if anything does die that he will clear that up for me.

Gawd I hope I can relax and forget about the tank whilst away, seems so much to worry about.

If it was brown jelly, you'd know... That auto-immune reaction only takes a day ;)

Nice to know Ski thanks, can cross that one off the worry list. Must have been algae or something, it is picking up still so hopefully by the time I get off holiday it should be nearer to its former glory. :good:

Got 15 more Turbos I appear to have lost a fair few of the original ones, found them upside down behind the rocks, if they are slightly weak, I now know the culprit for eating them. My 2nd Blood Shrimp Tutankhamun is the culprit, I watched him after putting the new ones in, he tests them with his whiskers to see if they are latched on, if they are not he will knock them off the rocks. I also then watched him go and stand on one, he tried to dislodge it with his legs, he is a little swine  .

I have now also instructed mom on how to check for upside down Turbos aswell. Will have to keep an eye this shrimp, he has a penchant for expensive snacks, at least I know he will eat anything that dies.

Just a quickie today I have added 6 Nassarius vibex to the 5 I already had, obviously going to a bigger tank requires increases in CUC. Will probably add more later as with Cerith snails but I thought just a few for now would help with the stirring of the substrate.

I must have had a blonde moment when I promised you all a picture of the frogspawn at my LFS today. Thursdays is the day of the week that she closes, therefore impossible for me to do. :stupid: I do apologise for my complete lack of concentration, the morphine is really starting to get to me I think. I have also found out today, it looks like I will be going to Industrial Tribunal against the NHS on two counts, GREAT, NOT. I won't go into the details but they want to dismiss a disabled person where they have admitted liabilty for causing the disability. Really makes sense that. My union rep stopped the meeting and we walked out. Just what I need on top of everything else.

I will be going to the LFS tommorrow to stock up on water so I will be able to take the photograph then. Hopefully she will let me take other photos too.
