Fishheaded's Nano Tank

SWEET :yahoo: :drinks:

Try mixing up a little other foods in with the brine to get him to have a taste for them. He'll come around :). Beware formalin, corals and inverts do NOT tolerate it well.

I'm so dumb, I saw that my clown had stringy white poop still, so I did the formalin3 dip for about 40 minutes last night, (it said max 50min). Then I put him back in the display tank, and ever since last night he has been hiding behind the rocks and seems more stressed out then before. I think it was a bad move, dumb me... Well I haven't tried feeding him ever since yesterday, but I'll try later and see if he will eat. :/ Oh yeah, he no longer has white poops though. :)

Clown is eating still. :hey: Well, he likes to stay near the powerhead, low down towards the substrate. I believe he is hosting? He just swims in place, moving his little fins back and forth. I have also bad news, now it is with my scooter blenny. :/ :-( He is extremely pail, he also is not moving, he is just breathing. I don't have a heater, because I live in Arizona, and the temps stayed high, but suddenly yesterday we got a huge change in weather. It is now really cold, and I got home today and my temp was at 70 degrees. Ahh, well, thankfully everyone is okay, except the scooter blenny. I'm not sure if the temp dropping was the reason why he isn't moving anymore. I don't know what to do. So tomorrow I will go and buy a heater, even though I'll be using it for only like a month and a half.

p.s. What does a healthy clown usually do? Because I really want to add more livestock, but not until he is healed and healthy. Ahh, this hobby is very stressful.

If the clown is hosting his area then it'll stay in one space for long periods of time. If its not hosting, it'll swim all over the open water of the tank. Since your clown is now eating I'd worry more about the scooter blenny. 70F is really cold so hopefully bringing the temp back up will fix your problem.

Thanks Ski, I believe he is hosting. :good: He'll stay at that spot most of the time, but sometimes he goes around, but then goes right back.
Well with the scooter blenny, sadly I think he is on his death bed. :-( I was able to put the temp back up to 77 degrees. He is extremely pail and is no longer moving. As I walked by, I saw my cleaner shrimp, picking/eating at him, either that or he was cleaning him? I don't know what the shrimp was doing but it was horrible to watch as the blenny just acted as if it was nothing. The scooter blenny was my favorite fish, he was fun to watch. I was thinking if I should take him out now and put him in a 2g, so that he doesn't harm the tank (nitrates). He will be dead when I wake up in the morning, or when I get back from work. :-(

Sorry about your loss. Chances are the cleanup crew will have munched him down to nothing by the time you return from work

Thanks, guys. :(
Well finally got off of work, and turns out when I woke up this morning for school, he was already dead. I saw one of my nassarius snail's on him and my shrimp picken away at him. R.I.P. Scooter Blen :-(
Well, anyways, my cleaner shrimp moulted again. :) Also my clown is still eating, and swims around with his fins out rather then in like before. In about a week hopefully my clown should be healthy and my tank should be ok with params. I plan on adding a sixline, so it will be a sixline and a clown in there. Does the sixline only eat pods, or do they eat frozen foods too? If they dont eat frozens, then I won't be getting one.
Also going to probably get a small little xenia later on too for my first coral :D

Edit: Forgot to mention, should I dip my clown into formalin3 one more time, since I only did it once? He looks pretty good, but he still has black spots on him. I was also thinking of doing a fw dip then a formalin dip. Or should I not, because he might get stressed out more?

Thanks Ski, I'll just leave him in there. As for the sixline do they eat frozen foods or just pods?

sixlines are pretty omnivorous. they wont eat much veggie matter, but will eat most frozen. like clowns, they may be picky when they first arrive but as they gain comfort they should start eating other stuff

Is it possible for fish to choke on food? and can they see when it is dark? Sorry for such random questions, just curious to know. :/

Very rare but possible. Gills and esophagus' can get clogged by food
