Fishheaded's Nano Tank

Arghhhhh! :shout: Man, I don't know what wrong with my clown. I go through so much for this little dude, I tried feeding him mysis shrimp today and all he would do is put it in his mouth, spit it out, put it in his mouth, spit it out and then leave it out. I tried feeding him plankton, and flakes, no go. So tomorrow i'm planning on getting him omega pellets, and see if he'll even nibble on those. What should I do, I mean he goes for the food, but then it seems like he doesnt like any of it? Ahh, this is really irritating, (I still love the little guy) but man, I just want him to eat. :/  Help please!?

Live food? Got any local shops selling live Brine? That might get his attention. You seem be putting in alot of effort, good job! :D

Thanks, I want this little guy to be happy and healthy :)

heard soaking the food in garlic extract will help make the food more desirable
Yea, I want to try it, doesn't it help fight off parasites and things like that too?
So how would I do this? Just buy some garlic from a market or something and cut it up and mix it with his food?

Well I tried to give my clown minced garlic, no go. Tried to give my clown mysis shrimp dipped in some garlic (water w/ garlic in it) no go. I really don't know what to do now...   :-(

hmm well hes a bit awcward. could he possibly have an internal parastie that makes him not want to eat? (chek with others first before running out and dosing im still a noob advice wise)

Yeah I'm pretty positive he has an ich. He has black spots on him, couple on his left couple on his right, and he has some in the middle between his eyes. I don't have a QT, and I am seriously low on cash. I have a 2g though but I doubt that would do any help...

never heard of ick being black? the parisite normally shows up white
can i ask how long you have had your clown? is he captive bred or wild? have you thought of going to your lfs where you had him from?
sorry can't be of more help :/

Hmm, well he all of a sudden got black spots. Its weird, I went back to my lfs and the other clowns that were in the tank were perfectly fine. Well, I still haven't got the pellets, but ill get them today, so hopefully he'll eat those, if not then I have no idea what to do. Thanks everyone for helping me with my clownfish. :)

did you ask what food they are feeding at the fish shop? maybe you could try some of their food how long did they quarintine your fish before they sold him to you? i know mine won't sell you a fish unless it's been in their tanks 5 days and is feeding well also i always ask if i can see the fish feeding especially if you don't know the people in the shop to well
hope this may help :/

Agreed, try asking them what they fed it. When I first got my clowns, all they ate was Hikari Marine Pellet, wouldn't touch anything else. After persisting and constantly trying to feed them other foods now they'll accept them and they pretty much eat anything I throw in there (including my forearms)

Hmm, well I asked my lfs what I should feed him, and he said to try omega one pellets, which I bought to day. And surprise, surprise...he didn't eat it. Well, I honestly don't know what to do. What could be wrong with him? Could he possible eat when I'm not looking or there in the room? :/

I very rarely see my Clownfish eat, but they are fat as pigs. Try feeding them some kind of vegetable or algae such as spirulina, tastes good and is good for them, as it strengthens their immune system.

-Lynden

P.S. Spirulina doesn't just work on fish - I started taking it almost a year ago (and have since stopped many months ago), and I've only gotten a single cold since. In previous years I would get several, and I even got pnuemonia twice :( . But I'm fit as a donkey now. How's that for proof! :)

Thanks Lynden, ill give it a shot.

Well, my clown has developed way more dark spots on him. What could it be? I want to start adding corals, but not until I know my clown is healthy.

I dont know if its the same for marine as fresh but black patches can be ammonia burns on a freshwater fish.
