Fishheaded's Nano Tank

Well last week I checked and they were fine, but I just did a water test right now and it reads as follows:
0 nitrite
10 nitrate
0.25 ammonia
8.3 ph
1.025 sg
temp 81

I am about to do a water change, I think i'll do a 30%, should I do more?
1) If the ammonia thing does apply to saltwater, could this be the problem why he is not eating and why he has black spots?
2) Also another thing when the lights are on my clown just stays in one spot, but when lights are off he goes everywhere. Why?

Stick to 30% for now and test again for ammonia about 30-60 minutes after the change.

1) absoloutely yes. Remember, ammonia is far more toxic to saltwater species because of the way their kidneys work. Any ammonia is pretty dangerous

2) interesting, mine's the opposite... Dunno

Ok, did a 30% water change and checked ammonia, it is now at 0 :) (thanks ski)

I am assuming that the black spots all over him are ammonia burns?
If they are, will he regain his color back or will he have those spots forever?

Sorry to say it again but my clown is still not eating, . This is ridiculus :(
Flakes, pellets, frozen foods, all a no go. I honestly am surprised at the fact that he hasn't died yet :/ I guess he's a strong one...

Clowns are exceptionally hardy, I've heard storeis of them lasting weeks in overflow boxes without food... Did you ask the LFS what they were eating before you picked yours up? Thats prolly your best bet :/

When he recovers fully he will ditch the brown spots ultimately. May take weeks, but they're not permanent scars

Yeah, I asked them and they said omega one pellets...tried it, he ate one little pellet, but that's it
Yay, at least theres some good news. :D

Also, I have 64 watt of compact fluorecent lighting. 1 x 32 actinic and 1 x 32 daylight, i'm planning on getting corals soon, what kind can I keep?

-Thanks

erm i think softies and LPS but start with softies. easy and hardy. but id wait after your clown is either dead (lets hope not) or fully healed.

my young clown went through my power head and suvived :D

Can someone fully explain what it is to host? Someone told me that my clown might be hosting my powerhead, because he just stays in one spot where the the current is flowing.

Usually the clownfish will spend 80%+ of its time near the object that it is hosing in. It will often rub its body up against the object and if it has tentacles, it can sometimes be seen nibbling on the tips of them. It usually stays nearby the object in a "waddling" motion moving its head and tail left and right a lot.

It will also be very defensive of its territory and chase anything away from the "host"

Update:
Well clown is still not eating, tried feeding him and he ate like 1 pellet. :/
Somehow I forgot to mention in the past that he poops white stringy things. I've been reading and could it still be an internal ich???

my fishes poop comes out a bit white and stringy so not sure if you got much worry about there i think if he had clownfish disease he would have past on by now so discount that not sure about ick either he would have been covered in white spot by now too i have very little knowledge on internal parisites so can't help you there sorry :(

i still think your fish was wild caught and is struggling to acclimatise to life in your tank i might be wrong though

as maidenhead said if it was any major diesease he would of popped it a long time ago. anyway its like in my freshwater my gourami has been doing stringy poop for a long time but hes still going strong. :)

Thanks guys, his poop is white and long. :/
Well update on the clown...........I went to my LFS and they told me they fed him brine shrimp, and that was one of the foods I haven't tried yet. So I bought it, along with Formualin 3, because I told the owner about his non eating, black spots, white poop, and excessive breathing. She said to try formalin 3 for he possibly might have a parasite. Well I went home and tried to feed him the brine shrimp, and guess what...
He ate it! :hyper: :yahoo: He went crazy, he ate it all. :D Well, I was thinking about the formalin dip, but then since I got him to eat, I'll wait a little bit, just so if he can fight it on his own now that he is eating. And plus I don't want to stress him out, might make it worst. So for now i'll be feeding him brine, but in about a couple of days, I'll hopefully be able to ween him on to some other, more nutritious goods.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me and have been reading my stupid posts. :)
