I have a 10 gallon tank with Aqueon Quiet Flow 10 power filter. Instead of using the Aqueon carbon filter cartridge, would it be possible to use something like Aqua Clear filter foam insert with a biomax filter insert as a substitute?

Can I still reuse the filter carbon cartridge after treating my tank (aquarium salt and high temp 86 degrees) for ich infestation? or replace it with a new one?

Currently I have a 10-gallon tank with 3 male platies. I would like to add 2-3 Serpae tetras, 2 corydoras catfishes, and an oto algae eater. Is this too many fishes?
