what kind of filters are you talking about, because i have a whisper 10 and i was wondering if i took the carbon out and just had the mechanical filter if my filter would work the same.

yea fish are awesome, i can completely zone out when i glance at my tank and watch them until i realize that i have things i gotta do. Thats a great part in having an aquarium.

thanks, i think it is the shock of the lights actually going on and it being so bright all of the sudden, also its kind of new to the tetras as they really havent had lights on them before and they are the ones who really seem to react. I'll see about the timer and such i think that will help...

i once had a betta with three tetras and suprisingly it worked. No fin nipping from the tetras and no aggression from the betta, that betta lived for about 2 years and there never seemed to be a problem but now looking back i wouldnt have done it in the first place.

I dont think anything eats poop, my best guess would be a ghost shrimp or something of the sort but i dont even think they would, a gravel vac is a beast at eating poop tho.

i planted my tank with real plants instead of plastic and my 10 gal looks so much better, its suprisingly easy to do it too, i have a gravel substrate and a flourescent hood light and the plants are doing fine. My fish love them and im sure yours will too. IMO real plants are amazing

hey man, tap water should be fine with some conditioner, its never bothered my tank and i keep it pretty clean, I actually add tapwater everyday or so to keep the water levels right so it should be fine.

I may be wrong but the only thing i could think of is that maybe he caught a parasite. That would explain the stringy things. I have seen my black skirt tetras lose color when they are in stressfull conditions, like water changes and such, so maybe that could be applied in this situation to...
