Doesn't time fly when you get watching fish?

LOL, good job it was just a sunday night, but I spent a good hour watching the boys in the tank last night!

It all started cos I thought the little guy looked ill- he was swimming a bit odd. Get close up and realise it's the two litte golden eyed cichlids having a bit of a dispute...

The tiny guy is sticking his gill covers right out, raising his dorsal fin seriously stiffly and even those two little fins at the bottom (pelvic fins?) are stuck out like spikes- he's posturing like mad at the mid-sized male who adopts the same position and then they sort of swim around eachother and one begins smacking at the other with his tail!! It went on for a short round, then the bigger male assumed 'threat' position and sorta split them up, then they were back together having another go!

It was seriously interesting to watch and I would swear the little guy got the upper hand.. lol, I think he just wanted it more! He even attempted to square up to a neon, who of course just waltszed off totally ignoring him!

Don't worry too much, as already stated two of the boys are going back to the store tomorrow... I just hope they'll find good homes as they certainly have personality!

Honestly, I've missed more tv since I got my tank than I have in a long time!! If you get one quiet moment you end up engrossed in the fish instead!

Fish are pretty fun and relaxing to watch, it's been proven to lower stress.

Well seeing as our tv ariel has somehow collapsed and is pointing towards our roof instead of the sky the last 2 days our tv has been unwatchable so the fish tanks have all had more viewing than normal and its been great - have noticed more about my fish in the last few days than in the last year and a bit. :D

I'm really enjoying having an active tank again.

Yesterday I discovered that the amano shrimps come running out as soon as they hear me open the lid of the tank and steal any algae pellets I put in! I also watched one small one ride around on the back of the largest for a good half hour - looked like he was riding a horse!

YEE HAW! Ride 'em, Shrimpy!

I have been sitting on the couch talking with my husband when my oscar Hagrid starts rearranging his rocks. I get so engrossed in watching the fishy remodelling that I tune out the better half until he snaps his fingers in front of my face or something. It's like being in a trance.

yea fish are awesome, i can completely zone out when i glance at my tank and watch them until i realize that i have things i gotta do. Thats a great part in having an aquarium.

yea fish go. They r something better then watching dump tv show. Beside tv hurt ur eyes as well.

Yeah I have 7 Bettas and sometimes I'll get to watching them and that's it, I'm trapped! They totally crack me up with all their flaring and posturing. At about 8:00 at night it's like they're all caffeine jazzed up and all 7 of them start swimming around like Jaws is after them!
