I agree. Also never keep barbs with angel fish. they are just too terror.

with my experience with barbs they are nasty. they will chase and nip guppies. I had a bunch of them in my 40gallon and they killed a few of my gupps. i took them back to the shop needless to say.

I just got back from seeing my friends tank. They sold me Melafix as they didn't have any Myxazin. Now i hope i understand the dosage.. It's a 30 gallon tank. 5ml per 5gal of water, so i put 15ml and repeat.

I think they just gave it the name bc of the colour. i think if anything it is a dwarf platy as it is not really long enough as a normal red platy i have seen or had before.

the tank is not showing any bad signs on the tests. filter is for 10gallons running for a month or so now and cycled. i have a few plants and stones below for the fry to hide in. ammonia 0 ph 7.5 nitrate 0 natrate 0 temp 78F or so

that's what i said. they are undeveloped or unhatched from within the mom. so she dropped them out. i would of had more fry too bad :( maybe next month. thanks westwood.

actually they do have eggs. its just the eggs hatch into live fry inside them. my sense is that the eggs are coming out due to stress of sorts and so she is aborting. unhatched fry.

Just an update. this wood is sitting in the bucket still making the water brown. been doing a water change once a week or so. But now i noticed its starting to stink like eggs LOL. What to do next?

Now that i had her for some times, i noticed her shaped has changed. she isn't as fat and wide.. she thinned out slightly. So she may just be a regular red platy.

Hi. I setup my 10gallon tank for my one female platy. She will drop her fry within a week i would say. So, I am wondering is it necessary to have a filter in this tank with just the one fish? Once she drops I am placing her back into the main tank and her babies will follow in a trap. Thanks!

Sometimes it is hard to take pictures of fry. Especially if your camera doesn't have micro zoom in HD. Mine sure doesn't lol.
