I would add the higher dose to be on the safe side, lots of water companies add chloramine. It sounds as though the lower dose only neutralises chlorine.

My Rams spawn every month and every month the male Ram has a caviar feast! They really are terrible egg eaters...

Adding bogwood will help lower your pH, particularly in a small tank. You can buy peat granules in the lfs, fluval make some but they are quite expensive. Good luck :)

Not sure about a male Betta they are best kept alone in a small tank really. I keep 3 female Bettas in my tank which, amongst other things, has 2 Rams. If your girlfriend wants a male Betta she could keep one in an Eclipse setup on its own - Bettaman has a sale at the moment. :nod:

Great to hear you have some fish in that lovely tank at last :) I stocked my 120 litre tank very slowly, added a couple of fish every 2/3 weeks and didn't get any spikes at all. Fully stocked now after about 3 months. Good Luck :thumbs:

I moved one of my female rams out of my main tank into a 10 gallon which had 4 platys in because I had 3 rams and the 2 females fought constantly. She immediately coloured up when I moved her into the smaller tank and she swims around with the platys, she hasn't shown any aggression to them at...

I'm a mum with 3 quite grown up boys. They can usually find a way to get around me when they want something. Don't buy the tank until she agress though, I'm sure you will persuade her and you will enjoy it much more if she is happy for you to have it. :fun:

Glad to hear Hachi is feeling better :) I only recently came back to fishkeeping after many years absence and it never fails to amaze me how aware fish are.

I am confused by 100% water changes once a week. If amonia shows after 3 days and nitrite after 5 - which it does in a cycling tank - surely the Betta is being kept in a constantly cycling tank? I have my bettas in a 5 gall, and 2 3 galls and I have filters. The 5 gall has an Elite mini filter...

I have peat in my external filter because it helps to keep the pH down and I have Rams in the tank. I also have sponges, little ceramic ring things and carbon. :)

I think I might stop using the Melafix altogether. Keep him in really clean water and add a little aquarium salt. See how he does.... Hope he improves soon.

I've got glowlights, cories and rams with my female bettas in a 30 gallon.

The females with them are smaller than guppy females, silver coloured. The lfs says they are true Endlers so I hope they are. I don't have any guppies, I have set this tank up especially for Endlers because I think they are lovely.. :wub:

I am getting some Endlers tomorrow. Are they as prolific breeders as guppies? I have a heavily planted 40 litre tank to keep them in and I was hoping to get a couple of Sparkling gourami as well. :fun:

Have you tried e-bay? I think some plants can go in either cold or tropical tanks. My son has Hogwart, Java Fern and Amazon swords in his goldfish tank and his fish are fine - except they eat the hogwart. :lol:

I have 150 watt in a 30 gallon and it has been fine. Our house is warm though.

Came over to have a look. It is lovely, lots of plants and wood - the fish should be very happy!

I have peat granules in my canister fileter and bogwood in the tank. This has lowered my pH from 7.4 to 7.0. The Rams keep laying eggs so it seems to suit them, but the fish shop told me they would be fine in 7.4. Good Luck! Sounds like it will be a lovely tank. :wub:

Do you mean a male ram and 2 females? As a newbie I did that on the advice of my lfs, I would not say it is very successful. One of the females is harrassed constantly by the other pair. I feel so sorry for her I am going to move her as soon as I have my other tank up and running. I would...

Hi - I have 2 male Bettas both with filters and heaters. The heaters do come on for short time even at the moment in our summer. I've got one in a 25 litre tank and 1 in a 14 litre tank. Bettas are not kept in 'cups' in the Uk it is an American thing. They are usually in the community tanks...
